I am hoping they do it the way they did San Fran 2006. Letting the 10 clubbers in early, and having it just be basically first come first served. I liked that

    really? im totally opposite. 8-)
    Shows:
    Seattle Key Arena 9-21-2009
    Seattle Key Arena 9-22-2009
  • Are you talking about general admission seating as first come/first serve? or 10c goes in early with a pd ticket *for assigned seat* based on who showed up first to the ticket window? If it is the former, that's dangerous - remember the Who concert where 11 people died in 1979...

Last I checked that was one incident, 30 years ago, and there have been a few hundred thousand GA shows since where nobody died.

I'm all for GA. Get some excitement up front for the boys to feed off!

the venue entrance was down a hill and caused people to fall. There been a few million GA shows since then and very rarely people have died. I for one hope its never GA in america. There's way to many meat heads in this fan club that people tend to forgot bout.

Wow. That's harsh. Good luck to you!

Seriously, there have been plenty of incidents since 1979 where people have been crushed from crowds surging. PJ is especially familiar with one incident, albeit not related to GA, but due to a crowd that was "too excited" maybe?

Apparently, I'm more cautious than most. I'm not racing anyone for the front. I would love to be up there just once in my life, but with a specific seat that represents my space.

um.. The Who tragedy I'm referring to was in Cincinnati and was caused by a surge in the crowd outside the coliseum trying to fit into very few open doors... there was no hill (that I recall). Were you referring to a different event?

I won't be racing to the front either. I'll hang comfortable at the back with a bit of room to jump around and rock out without banging my shins on the seat in front of me, bumping into the guy next to me, and all the other shit annoyances of floor seating. Oh yeah, and benefiting from the extra energy the band releases by virtue of having people rocking out down front instead of standing, arms folded, "feeling" the music (aka pretending to be a board hero by texting setlist updates and whining about the fact that the version of the last song from the 13-32-08 boot was way better than the one just played), and talking between songs about their imaginary relationship with Ed and how he can't perform without them there.

Can you share a spare 10c ticket with me for 8/23 so I can hear them speak in this way? I've never been that close to the front but it sounds like I'm missing out on a lot of fun! Please, Please??? (j/k - if not obvious :) )

  • Thanks for the laugh Metsfan. I've never bought one but I did wonder about that... if people buy one *BEFORE* the show, they have to protect it.. but how?

Sorry to get off topic - back to General Admission - Bad, bad, bad... very bad... for me at least.

    No.

Ten Club members should get the close SEATS not have to fight for them with a bunch of drunk idiots who think it's still 1993 and want to mosh. You can be first in line and still have to fight for your spot.

Plus my wife is really short. :)

Im all for GA and Im female.
Every other concert I go to is general admission. Rarely are there problems. If you don't like it, get out and move back. It's quite easy.

98 Aus shows were amazing BECAUSE of GA - people don't feel restricted by stupid seats in the way.
Most fans in Australia are NOT used to seats at a rock concert and unless they are used to PJ they probably feel like they have wondered into Andre Reiu instead.

GA for Australia this year please :geek:

ive never had a problem ga ... theres actually quite an etiquette to it if you get right down to it, and most regulars know it and abide by it ... if i get shoved too much i shove back, and if stupid little fluffy girls try to squeeze into the 'empty space' to hear their radio song, i politely tell them to fuck off

that said ... i like pj's seats. i like the spots i get. i like the fact that everyone im standing around loves pj for their music, not because their face popped up on video hits for the last running month. i like the fact the (mostly) i dont have to listen to the aforementioned fluffy girls declaring their undying love for eddie, and offering to have his babies. i like being able to wear thongs and not get my toes broken....

stick to seats boys, and thanks in advance for the australian shows
    impatience is a gift ........

Didnt San Fran I, II and III go off without a hitch? All were GA, all were "ten club members let in early, followed by general public". I dont remember the crowd doing wierd things. I and others made it out just fine

I see GA as good. Assigned seats make it so, if you are stuck behind a tall person, and you are small in stature, well your out of luck. You cant move. With GA, you just move to the next open spot, or scoot over or whatever. for the San Fran Show, I remember quite a few people, given the choice, skipped out on going to the front of the venue, and instead went up top, to the top section of the auditorium. You wouldnt have the choice to do that at a assigned seat show.

I like this idea as well. Even though I get good assigned seats to most shows, I did enjoy the Borgata shows a few years ago and they were GA. Imo, GA brings much more energy and excitement to the show(look at the huge difference between a PJ show in the US and those in Europe).

Also, most shows in Europe are GA, including a couple of PJ shows in Italy that I've been to. It was a really great experience to meet new people waiting in line for a couple of hours before the show(and drinking a bottle of wine right there without worrying about any laws, such as open container) :)

I'm all for general admission for the upcoming tour. It would definitely give the band more engery to see different people in the front for every show. I believe they commented before that they were tired of seeing the same faces in the front all the time. The only people who are going to bitch about this idea is the those who have a low 10 club #.
    8/29/00, 7/3/03, 5/24/06,6/28/08 & 6/30/08, 10/9/09,10/28/09, 10/30/09 & 10/31/09, 5/15/10, 5/17/10, 5/18/10, 5/20/10 & 5/21/10, 10/23/10 & 10/24/10, 9/3/11, 9/4/11, 9/11/11, 9/12/11, 9/23/11, 9/22/12, 9/30/12, 7/16/13, 7/19/13

I think this could also be accomplished if people didn't go to 6 shows on a tour.

I'd love a GA show, granted they let 10c members in first. I remember Ed saying at Albany '06 about seeing all the same faces at every single show up front, and then said "Shouldn't you guys be out getting laid?"
