Saratoga 2000

Look at the start to this show:

Breakerfall
Whipping
Spin The Black Circle
Hail Hail
Corduroy
In My Tree

I was there and it is one of my favorite concert experiences of all time, just a great show. Over the years I've realized how special those opening 6 songs were: Binaural kickass opener followed by some Vitalogy and then a triple shot from No Code. That's a fantastic start to any show!! You don't see a lot of shows that start that fast, really busting out of the gate like that. The entire show was amazing--Leatherman was a nice surprise!--but the start was something really special. Beautiful memories! Were you there, or do you at least love the boot? Hope so!

Yes that was a nice surprise at the time! I don't even think the band has covered that song much at all, right? Glad we got to hear it. I also remember Ed wading out into the crowd during Porch, sort of standing on a security guard's shoulders, i think? Or something like that. It was cool, but the memories fade with each passing year ;-) Glad I at least have always had that boot to relive the music. Killer Black that night also, one of the best I've ever heard. Mike was ON all night. His Nobody's Fault But Mine during Ledbetter was niiiiice.

That is a nice first 6 songs, but I fail to see the triple shot of no code?

Was my first pj show, and first concert in general. Couldn't have been better. In My Tree from that show is one of the best versions I've ever heard, just amazing. Wish they would bring that one back live more, I haven't seen it live since philly 05 and i miss it soo much...

Sucks there wasn't a poster for this show also, but I got my dog tags there which one of still resides on my key chain. :)
Wouldn't it be funny if the world ended in 2010, with lots of fire?

My first show ever... and man... I loved every minute of it.

They played In My Tree and it was fucking amazing.... my favorite PJ song at my first show... can't ask for more than that.

I too wish there was a poster for that one show.
  • Indeed. Great show. I was in the 5th row, Mike's side. I am actually heard on the bootleg too. During "Soon Forget" I am heard doing the laugh when Ed sings, "and the townsfolk, they all laugh". I tried to do the laugh from "Suite:Judy Blues" by Crosby, Stills, & Nash . . . my girlfriend at the time called the last three songs. We used to place bets on openers and closers, she called it in the parking lot, - Soon Forget- Black- Yellow Ledbetter- . . . wonderful experience, ahhh the good ol' days.

PLUS, a great version of Grievance with Ed singing "I want to taste/everyone in Schenectady!" Also Beginning to see the Light tag in Daughter - go VU! - and WMA and Androgynous Mind tags in the same song. Great, great show, one of their best, IMHO.

I too enjoyed this show. Also, that night Ed mentioned that Matt Cameron and he were wearing the same t-shirts both wore years before at a Loolapolooza event. Also, Soon Forget was briefly halted due to bad audience clapping.

For possible future reference, it may be worth noting that at SPAC, the venue in Saratoga, there is a pocket of seats with bad sound. I've found it to be the back of the lower level, inside the shed. I was in those seats that night and it was just a bit of a struggle to fight the odd sound.

Had a friend close to the stage who loved the show. And the bootleg sounds pretty good.

Although it may simply be due to a lack of summer gigs, I have also noted that Pearl Jam has never gone back to SPAC. The Albany area shows have been at the former Knick Arena. And of course, two E.V. shows at the Palace. Seems like the Albany arena is better fit for Pearl Jam. 2006 was pretty legendary.

Hey that's my hometown, back near Albany. Just downloaded it and will take a listen, hadn't seen it on PJ boots website, but will now get to hear it. I really like the Albany area shows. Reminds me of home I guess.

Great show, I was out on the lawn scrunched within a bunch of people. Not a bad seat there, I don't know about a bad seat for sound though.
I wonder why PJ hasn't been back to SPAC since. It's a great venue, and the band even escaped to the Hotel there after Albany '06 due to too many fans in their hotel. I'm hoping they do come back some day.

supplied the YL tag and that makes it one of the coolest in my book. The one from the previous show wasn't bad either. ;)

...love the sonic youth influence during the rvm jam... one of my favorite versions of that song!

yeah, that was a great show! and like someone else mentioned... the "I want to taste/everyone in Schenectady!" line is great, and makes me giggle every time. I don't know why they don't go back to SPAC... maybe it's just because downtown Albany is more convenient for people traveling from other cities (NY, Boston). I'm gonna go listen to the boot right now :D .

maybe they dont go back there cause it took everyone like 8 hours to get outta the parking lot, what a fluster-cuck!

I challenge the Mansfield parking lot to a duel with the SPAC parking lot! to the death.

That was a great show indeed. I grew up about a mile away from the venue (SPAC) so it was really cool to see them at home and be able to go home after a show (not a hotel or anything).

Everytime I think about that show I am brought back to one memory. I went with my girlfriend at the time and we were at our seats (in the ampitheater) waiting for a few of our friends to meet us at our seats. I think that it was around the 3rd or 4th song and my girfriend was complaining that something was splashing on her leg. I turned around and some 18 year old kid in the row behind us was on his knees taking a piss.

Needless to say I was pretty angry. I am not all about being macho or a tough guy or anything like that (especially since I was drinking - I have no delusions of turning into a prize fighter when I am drunk) but I was ready to fight.

This young kid can be thankful that the only thing that stopped him from getting punched in the eye was my friends brother (who was a security guard at SPAC). He quickly difused the situation by getting us out of our seats and bringing us to the third or fourth row behind the Orchestra Pit where our friends were waiting.

After that we had a great time at the show and even went out for a few beers after. Thats my story.
