I saw it last night...I really liked it. I know what you mean, I thought it could end like 2 or 3 times before it actually did. Those cars back then were badass

J Edgar Hoover was a little bitch, I wonder why the FBI honors such a slug

i think billy crudup played hoover
  • I just saw it and I was kinda disappointed. It wasn't nearly as good as I thought it would be. It was pretty boring imo.

I just saw this last night and thought it flat out sucked. It was boring, it was long, and anytime Depp's character talked to his girlfriend was straight CHEESE in the dialogue. Whoever said J. Edgar Hoover looked like a little bitch was spot on, so it scored a few points for me there. Don't waste your money on this one.

I saw it last week and i liked it a lot. I thought the cops could have been more developed from a charactor stand point but otherwise i liked it a lot.

it was kinda drawn out and sometimes "boring". but thats what this movie was. i think we expected more of a shoot em up bank robbin, cat n mouse with the cops type movie.
    i enjoyed it though
    strong acting. fairly emotional ending

thought it be better. the HBO special made it look better than it was. it wasn't bad thou. just blah. depp as a gangster is not great. donny brasco was blah too.

it wasn't horrible, but wasn't fantastic either. the writing was awful, needed to be much tighter and it ran too long. the cast did the best they could with the material they had, and i loved the set design and cinematography. it's just too bad, it could have been really good.

and johnny was great (and fine as hell  )

I thought it was very entertaining. I know everyone's talking about Johnny Depp (not to take anything away from him, as he had a good performance), but I think Stephen Graham had the best performance as Baby Face Nelson. He was simply crazy in that movie.

Oh, and I think I have a crush on Marion Cotillard now.

  • I can't wait to see this...

    Bale + Depp + 1930's = heaven for Sian 8-)

idk, hubby and i LOVED it.....really. we both thought it was so well done. thought the script was pretty tight, the acting excellent, and you bet, the cinematography was fantastic. depp and bale in particular were just soooo good. and too long? really? even my husband,m who is one of the first to complain a flick is too long - even when it isn't - did not think it too long, at all. i thought the story flowed really well, and it unfolded at the proper pacing. i also read that mann utilized HD digital film, once of the first flicks of it's kind to be filmed like this, and yea...the detail/sharpness of it all....just gorgeous.
    Stay with me...

I thought this was a really good movie. It was cool seeing all the locations in Chicago and Crown Point. The ending was filmed in an alley right by my place.
