What I paid for it doesn't matter at all. Again, should everyone who gets a poster at a show sell it for what they paid? Should I sell the 2006 DC I got at the show for $25? If I sell that or my S/N 2003 Ames Texas print as I also disrespecting the artist? Do you think ANY artist wants people to profit on their work? There are plenty of A/P Honolulu Klausen's for sale on EB and ebay that were purchased S/N for $40-$50 or obtained from the scratch and dent sale and they are upwards of $300. That's MUCH more of a markup than mine.
It's a bit unfortunate, but with the way these pieces of art get resold on eBay, I think we'll see a serious shift from 'store'-type shopping (where we know the onsale date and time, and know what we must pay for it), to bid-based shopping (where an artist sets a minimum, and only the high rollers get the product) from artists, and many different creative-types involved with collectibles. It aggravates me greatly that people will get this kind of money, only to have the money pocketed by sellers who happen to have access to products, rather than the artist who poured his/her heart and soul into the art they make, and if it aggravates me - I'd be willing to bet it aggravates the artists to no end.
I think the artists are probably happier they're being sold and kept in good shape rather than the way I keep my posters. I have a couple of large card board boxes with all my posters from my 50 plus shows that I've been to filled with posters rolled up with rubber bands around them or still in the tubes I bought them from through the ten club. These "pieces of art" are merely souvenirs to me.
you should take that offer for the poster while you still can, no sense in holding out for more since a higher offer isn't likely to come along given the poster's condition,...

and again, this was information I got from an artist and it worked on a print I bought ....

the way the print is set up, you may be able to take a SOFT short bristled fine art brush and rub it (gently) in a circular motion around the scuffed area and move some of the gray ink over the white scuff ...

Not trying to bash anyone. Just pointing out the obvious regarding the mark up. My original post was made b/c in my view its that same as reselling your 10C tix for a profit. Band has a policy, and the only difference is they have ways (albeit not fool-proof) of enforcing it. Artists have no such ability.
Now, that being said - if you need to eat, you need to eat. Would never say you have no right to liquidate your property.
This all goes back to my 100% absolute hatred of ticketmaster and the secondary market for concert tickets and people who flip them. It is completely unncessary, there are ways to prevent, and yet it still exists. In my mind fliping posters is similar.
Carry on, hopethatyouchoke, and good luck with the sale!
Just a reference to mark-ups immediately following purchases...the shirt was $20...now selling for $75...it happens across the board, not just with tickets and posters.....

Don't forget Hockey Cards & Baseball Cards. No wait! That's a whole different league!
I'm pretty surprised that hockey player's/team's don't get their official line of posters, made by huge artists like Obey, EMEK etc... They would sell for hundreds.
"Toronto General Manager Brian Burke continued his efforts to add size and toughness on Wednesday by signing free-agent defenseman Mike Komisarek. Reports say the five-year team is worth about $22.5 million."
4.5 million a year? Come on! :? And they say there are tough times in the sport? :?

Upper Deck tried that with Kobe with a print designed by Shepard Fairey ... and it didn't sell well at all.

One of the reasons I am selling it is because it's so fugly. Definitely one of my least favorite posters.
I'm glad that I'm not the only one who recognizes that it is an ugly poster. Accenting its ugliness is that fact that it is really really cheesy. I really think that BK and EV were just trying to sneak some cheese into the high-end PJ poster collections for a high one. Given that, I can now enjoy the poster for its irony.

Something tells me it was a last minute thing. I would think those shows had very little planning and they had to throw something together.
