I had heard it when they streamed it. Just went out and picked it up- it's great, one of their best.

Wait, it's only 11 songs...never mind, it sucks.

I ordered the vinyl from www.wilcoworld.net and they actually send you a cd copy as well. Got it Saturday so have been listening to it many times now. Like every Wilco album, at first I like it, and then it just gets better with every listen. I will say they've made an effort to make more "radio friendly" songs than in the past. In that I don't mean top 40 type songs, but more conventional pop songs. But Wilco can do not wrong in my eyes.

completely loving it the first 2 times through. even the songs im not that into seem to be screaming to me that they'll grow. Was definately hoping for tons and tons more nels though, and why oh why oh why did they take out the jam at the end of one wing? its great live, and this version gets you ready to hear the song really take off, but now i just feel empty when its done

I've actually heard "You Never Know" on the radio enough times that I've had enough of it. Still, a great song. One Wing still stops my list so far. And I got the vinyl they same day my Yield LP came in the mail. Wilco really will love you, baby. :D
Can't wait for my first show next month!

decent album -- better than their last.

that being said -- i haven't heard anything as good from these guys as 'yankee hotel foxtrot' or 'summerteeth' was. jay bennett definitely had an influence on the band..............

I won't deny that it's not as great as Summerteeth or Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, but it's a strong record in its own right, and a welcome addition to the Wilco catalog. I respect that Tweedy is going for more of a live sound rather than focusing on studio effects (like he did in the two before-mentioned albums). Plus, how amazing is "Bull Black Nova"? And "One Wing"?

At any rate, it's a step up from Sky Blue Sky and a better record than their debut A.M....I'd say it's about equal to A Ghost Is Born.

I like the album quite a bit, but it might be one of my least favorite of theirs.

Not a knock to the album but more a testamont of how good their discography is.

It's a modest album to me, but I really enjoy it. A perfect fit for summer. I like it a hair more than Sky Blue Sky, but not quite as much as Yankee Hotel or AGIB or Being There. Summer Teeth probable ranks dead even with Sky blue Sky for me, with AM at the bottom.

I don't think that makes any sense. After a week, here's how I'd rank it:

    Yankee Hotel
    AGIB
    Being There
    Wilco
    Summerteeth
    Sky Blue Sky
    AM

I dig the new album and it's only getting better with each new listen, but it's nothing mind-blowing.

there is a nice pitchfork review on the ABC website.... not there best effort but against the yankee, ghost & summerteeth, being there... nothing will ever beat them. bull black nova is one of their best ever tracks though.

Saw them last night in the DC area. Great show.

I really enjoyed Deeper Down live. I have skipped it a couple times on the album, but for whatever reason it really worked for me watching them play it. Other highlight from the new album was Bull Black Nova.

A group of people near the stage wore shirts that spelled out "Wilco (The Fans)". Tweedy liked it.

Wilco (the fans) that is awesome.

Deeper Down i like but not a lot. I'm glad it comes off well live i can't wait to hear it... maybe in 2010 they will swing into Atlanta.

I think Bull Black Nova is sonically one of the best songs they have ever made and i can't wait to hear it live.

Agreed. It is too bad that they had to cut a couple songs because of the curfew. I heard that Late Greats - another one of my favorites - was one of the two or three which were cut. It is always interesting when you are at a show near the curfew, as it seems like each song has more value due to the limited time remaining. This is one of the reasons why I get really mad when PJ plays Last Kiss. Not only do I not like the song, but because it is often played in the encores, I end up just staring at my watch hoping they get through it as quickly as possible. I'm sure some at the Wilco show thought the same when they started in on Spiders (although Spiders is great) with only 20 minutes or so until curfew.

how goos were wilco last night in wilcoton, DE :D I was right up front second row of people! It was the third time I have seen wilco and by far the best. I thought the crowd was great and tweedy and co feed off that energy with a great set of tracks. I have to say that wilco are fast becoming the best live band in America. Misunderstood (which I requested online) into Spiders melted my face.

Conor Oberst and his band were out of this world as well and as far as I'm concerned should tour forever with wilco. I'm starting to feel that his mystic river band is much better than his bright eyes stuff.

If I had the money would be in MA for tonight show.
