Visiting Milwaukee

I'm going to be in Milwaukee July 10/11 to catch a game at Miller Park as part of a side trip from a week in Chicago. I've never been to Milwaukee and don't know much about what to do and where to go. I know Miller Park is outside of downtown, but I'd like to get a hotel downtown and be around the downtown area. Is that a good idea? Is there any kind of public transit from downtown to the game? Are there some good bars, restaurants, and things to do in the downtown area? Looking for any reccomendations or pointers. Thanks in advance.

If you're a big beer person, skip the Miller Brewery Tour and head to Lake Front Brewery. It's north of downtown, costs $6 but you get 4 sample pours and keep your pint glass. Plus it's just better beer and a much better tour.
There's also a great dive bar on the south side of town called Koz's Mini Bowl. They have mini bowling. It's very fun for a bit. Plus, PBR on tap. It doesn't have a website, but you can google it for some information.

Have a great time when visiting.

Also, as previously mentioned, take the bus from the airport. It is an inexpensive and interesting trip.
I love this reply.
I think I saw you again right b4 you left after the show. I was sitting outside of Mo's with a buddy of mine. I was so tired and still buzzed from the whole day of events. Thank you for coming to Milwaukee, glad you had fun.
Of course the Spotted Cow isn't half bad either. I can't wait to drink some again someday.

Thank you Mindi, and it was nice meeting you and your daughter.
After Milwaukee's party I retired from hosting anymore. lol
Btw being out in Denver myself and a few other Wisconsin transplants are trying to get some Spotted Cow out here.
We went to New Glarus' new brewery a couple months back. It's gigantic and beautiful. Their output is going to increase dramatically and rumors are that this could lead to out of state distribution again. Mayhaps not out to Colorado, but you never know. I live in Illinois on the Wisconsin border, and the closest liquor store is actually just 3 minutes into Wisconsin. The guy gave me a startling (and undoubtedly exaggerated) figure of the percentage of his business is Illinoisans coming across to buy New Glarus beers, and he is worried what will happen to his business if we can get it anywhere in Illinois.
I wish I would've saved more Dancing Man instead of having to wait until next year...
