Do people still throw joints onstage?

I remember a few years back, someone threw a joint onstage and ed said something like, "thanks we will enjoy that later".

Do people still do this, and has ed commented on them in the same way?

Was that at Soldier Field? I heard PJ played the night after the Dead's last show and they let them use their stage/sound/lights or something.. is that true? It seems sweet and supportive of the Dead to do that...

Probably.....PJ played 2 days after the Dead. It was the last show with Garcia.

Pearl Jam and the Grateful Dead couldn't be more different on the one hand.. but my obsessions with them is very similar. I've loved PJ since '92 (when I was.... 15?), but it's only recently that I've realized my passion as a fan is rivaling how I felt about the Dead way back then... It feels good to have that level of fan-dom for something again. Pj has become such a rewarding band to freak out about. I realize now how many shows I've missed out on over the years and I'm DYING to see them again.. the only reason I'm not making plans to drive to Texas or wherever to see them is the rumor of NW shows in fall... I don't how much longer I can wait!!! oh yeah... don't bother throwing your weed on stage (I'm sure they have there own) and really, who wants to smoke some mysterious joint from what's most likely a filthy lunatic fan? :D:D:D:lol: you could roll the joint in a sheet of acid! that would make for a really righteous Porch jam!

Someone who worked for me had been tasked to find some heroine for at least one of them. I believe she told them that she simply couldn't. Other stuff however would not have been so difficult.

Jerry had a little briefcase which held serious stuff and traveled everywhere he did. This was told to me from the most reliable of sources.

I heard a story about backstage at a Phish show........ they were basically serving some pretty hard drugs like h'ordeuvres(sp?), on silver platters.

On a Black Crowes rider I read was 1 half oz of high grade pot for every member. It usually looks like Chris Robinson smokes the whole stash.

My question.... Do promoters/venues have gophers for stuff like this?

They are "runners", though for things in the rider catering usually takes care of things they know they need in advance.

A promoter can take out an illegal request during negotiations with a band. ...but a band can ask for whatever they want.

I was asked to be a runner during a PJ show... but declined. I had front-row-center tickets!

It makes financial sense. Both bands can split the stage bill and stagehand costs.

In a stadium, it's usually about a 1 week stage build. That's expensive. It's a WORLD away from an arena show where everything is up and down within 20 hours.

What a great weekend 7th row for PJ in Milwaukee and then the Grateful Dead at Soldier Field on Saturday. My brother and I figured we were driving through Chicago anyways. Got tix from an older hippie dude. Good times
    Things were different then

The people who put-on Coachella also do a country festival the week after Coachella.....saves a fortune on set-up costs.

Several years ago, there were supposed to be two separate tours The Who, and Black Crowes/Jimmy Page) that played cities one day apart, so that they could use the same crew in order to save $$.
