That sucks, but I thought the rockets were consistently better without him leading up to and into the playoffs. Wonder how long he was hurt before he went out.

I never really bought into him. The skill set was there, but a guy that big is gonna have sore feet all the time and they didn't get him til he after his military service.

It's no wonder NBA big men have such trouble with their feet... The lower part of the human body wasn't built for 300 pound guys to run and jump that much and for that long.

think you're thinking about two seasons ago. he was there 10 of the 22-game win streak and went down. Rox went into the playoffs and lost the first round with T-mac. he was healthy all of this season (without McGrady) and finally led his team out of the first round (with Artest as a sidekick) and went down again in Game 3 of the Lakers series. this year, i thought they were the only team in the NBA that could contend with the Lakers (pushed them to 7 games). they swept the magic in the regular season, won 3 of 4 against denver, and split their games with cleveland this year (where no one beat cleveland at home). they were definitely contenders and yao was the main reason.

its really a shame with his health. what a unique player, great ambassador for the NBA, one of stern's golden geese. he's the only player in the league that to stop him, you can't let him touch the ball.

That theory works, but I thought the Rockets played ALOT better when he was out of the game, this year in the playoffs.
