I found out tonight that one of my good friends from high school got engaged and is planning on getting married in the next year.
I'm 22 years old and this is the first of my friends to get married... so obviously I'm excited for her, for the party, for everything!
But at the same time I know that this is just the first of many...and by the 20th wedding I go to in a summer I'm going to be all jaded and stressed about getting a date...
But still... tonight, I'm excited, and having too many glasses of wine in honor of her and the love of her life.

Wait......I'm suppose to have been hooking up at all the weddings I've been too? And there even is a game to help me out?

Damn! I've been going to the wrong weddings!!!

Just wait until the first of those married couples starts getting divorced... hehe, heard that one recently from a couples whose wedding I went to a few years back.

For some reason, it never phased me. To be fair, I think I had a gf during the peak wedding time. But I also have no interest in marriage yet, so the angst doesn't hit me.

And I rather doubt a pretty girl like you is going to have THAT tough a time finding a date!

i've been through the friends getting married phase...the having babies part is even weirder for me. these are the girls whose hair i held back while they were getting sick in my bathroom at a party...and now they are responsible for a little being. now it's like everyone wants me to join their "married w/ babies" club...and i'm not really interested. maybe later...but i guess i should have a bf first??! someday.

The upside of being first is you get divorced young enough to still be a hottie and have some fun ;)

    It's funny...
I already have the friend getting divorced (I didn't know her before she got married so I didn't get in on the wedding festivities)
I have the girlfriend whose hair I held at parties who now has a baby...
But this is the first wedding I'll be doing.
Us kids are just so screwed up these days...

Hmm.. so the general consensus is that going dateless to the wedding is the thing to do... this could get interesting real fast. :)

    seriously.
been thru that with my oldest sister, two marriages exactly 10 years apart......now she simply lives with her BF.
almost all my first cousins have been married, divorced, remarried. funny tho, out of all our close friends, only 3 divorces, lot of long-term mariages, and sure, a few never-marrieds.
    Stay with me...

Don't sweat it AA. I'm always fascinated by the obsession with women to find dates for weddings. It's like another poster said - it's a good place to hook up! If it's any consolation if I were young and single and at the same wedding I'd probably try and work my game. ;) You're cute and seem to have a good head on your shoulders, and most importantly a PJ fan! Maybe you should wear something PJ related to the wedding, like a Mookie Blaylock jersey over your dress. You know, something low key.
