Have you ever run into a closet fan?
Tonight at work (I work at a hospital, second shift, in the pathology lab..) During shift change over to night shift, one of my coworkers made a comment about having gone to too many concerts, so his hearing was shot. I inquired what concerts, thinking he had gone to "Country Fest" in town... to which he shuddered.
I said I knew the feeling and that I had just gotten back from Tennessee where I saw three Eddie Vedder shows and was seeing three PJ shows in August. He smiled and said that was awesome.
On my way out the door he said to me "damn, now you're got all that Into the Wild stuff stuck in my head" and smiled.
Made my night. :)

Neat! I am hella surprised at the number of folks who are "casual" fans. Working in CorpUSA I just kinda don't talk it up too much, but a bunch of execs have floored me. Made a Gorge CD for one corner office dude -- his son had gotten him a RHCP boot -- it's sitting on his desk with the track listing, and three other suits pick it up and go, "Oh hey, nice! Make me a copy!" These 50-somethings were teens in the 70s afterall....

All of them were looking for more the next week.... one of our senior speechwriters, who came over after a stint in DC writing speeches for a Senator, yeah, he's been into PJ since the beginning. Talk about Republicans who dig PJ!

I also once had a high school teacher who commented on my Binaural tour shirt... I burned him a copy of Riot Act (which had just come out at the time) and we rocked out in his classroom the next morning before school started. It was pretty awesome.
