The best side-project is...

Gotta go with Thermadore. Yep, even over Mad Season. To all those unfamiliar, I beseech you to scour your local $1.00 bin for the album, 'Monkey on Rico'. Let the treasure hunt begin! Stone played and wrote a bunch of songs on it. Came out in 1996, I believe. Bought it when it first came out. It is understated at first, not ambitious, yet somehow has become one of those classic records that never lets me down, even as my musical tastes shift. Can be best described as a straight-ahead mostly acoustic rock record with accents of electric guitar. Even though Eddie wasn't involved whatsoever, I am going to go so far as to say the music (not lyrics) resemble that of 'setting forth', 'far behind', or 'hard sun'. Benefits being played during a road trip. The perfect summer album. So do yourself a favor and rescue Thermadore from obscurity! Now, rush over to the first record merchant you see and demand they sell you this album. Don't let their befuddled expression fool you, they know exactly what you mean. Give it a listen, then run naked up and down your street, declaring it the best thing since bread came sliced! Then, when you are finished running, put your clothes back on and ask Stone what the hell happened to these guys?
