Thanks for taking the time to post these stats!
"Push me and I will resist"
  • I would say that what is being called "Sometimes Reprise" definitely happened at both Nashville 2 and Memphis.

Hmm, I was gonna include Hawaii's in the tour total before I set up the spread sheet, assigning a point for each song and sum, divide by total number of songs, bonus points for guests and special songs, and tally out the ranking of show uniqueness quotients.

but this is a good start! thanks!

Nashville 1 & Atlanta 1; In Nashville, Ed got into the 2nd verse and flubbed some lyrics; he paused an launched into Wishlist. Had he finished the 2nd verse he was in the home stretch, the chorus repeats often - so lyric-wise he didn't miss much. Judging from the tracklist for Atlanta - looks like they got about the same with Believe You Me blending to Wishlist as well. Still great to hear Bad Radio songs every now and then. Had to bust out some old boots to rekindle the vibe. As for how did it sound - like it fits perfectly in the Ed Ved canon.

I think the Maui is "Open all night" -- you've got a different "Drive all Night" listed? Not sure, Maui setlist would be nice!

    and again, THANKS!

could be, i just went off of someone's post in the maui fanview thread since we don't have a setlist posted on the first post of that thread i figured it would be close enough until that happens

  • Nice work! It helps me put in perspective how lucky I was to see the Honolulu shows. Night 1 insane and 2 was sick...easily the best Ed show ever. Should Brain Damage Intro be listed? He also did the Supertramp tease (can't remember which song) after someone in the audience shouted Supertramp! (referencing Alexander Supertramp, adopted name of Chris McCandless). Ed had a good laugh when he surprised himself that he knew how to play the Supertramp song.

updated to include the brain damage intro. can't list everything that happened, but that was played enough to warrant me adding it. thanks

Well, that'll throw my math off -- assumed Brain Damage was played each time to intro Sometimes?!?! Not played in Albany or Hon2? Confirmed?

Meanwhile, with Maui still a mess and this little aside for Brain Damage, what I see right now goes to show just how awesome Hon2 really was. Just looking at the 62ish songs played (which counts the lil throwaway albany song and the Ron Wood Collaboration, Bad Radio stuff and the like):

10 Songs (1/6) were played only once, 4 of those songs at Hon2 and six of 10 in Hawaii
21 Songs (1/3) were played only once or twice over 14 dates.

19 Songs (1/3) were played at half of the shows or more.
(11 Songs at nearly every show, Hon2 only show not to get Society & Driftin')

Pretty good setlists overall I'd say -- we all pretty much heard the same stuff, cept Hon2.

    Shortest Set: Philly1 -- 22 Songs
    Longest Set: Hon2 -- 32 Songs!!!
    Avg Set: 25.28 songs

So now, Fun with Numbers in Spreadsheets! Here's how the shows' "unique-song quotient" are relative to everything played (1=song played at every show, 12=song played just once on tour*), higher being better:

    6.594 Hon 2
    5.241 Hon 1
    5.080 Albany 2
    5.074 Maui
    5.000 Balt 1
    4.870 Atl 2
    4.583 Nash 1
    4.556 Atl 1
    4.500 Philly 1
    4.417 Memphis
    4.375 Albany 1
    4.320 Balt 2
    4.167 Nash 2
    4.043 Philly 2

So a good majority of songs at Philly 2 were played everywhere else, while Hon2 had the most unique setlist (not to mention the longest). There are no points added/subtracted for length of setlist (lemme confirm maui) and then I like to factor in bonus points for special guests (Hannan, Boom, etc). Mayhaps I'll get around to that.

But still, I think from this aspect the trend is pretty clear -- Hon2 was just in a class all its own! And I really expected to be able to rant about how bad the first 3 cities got treated versus the end of the tour, which is typical. But I was surprised to see Albany 2 and Balt 1 up so high! And of course, I was at Philly2 and it was awesome to be the first to hear "The End" ... so even though the setlist wasn't that unique (not that it wasn't awesome, just not unique vs other set lists), it was indeed awesome fun!

    * Why 1-12 you ask (cause he didn't play anything 8 or 9 times)?

    8 SONGS every show; 3 SONGS played 13/14; 1 SONG played 12/14; 1 SONG played 11/14; 4 SONGS played 10/14; 2 SONGS played 7/14; 3 SONGS played 6/14; 8 SONGS played 5/14; 4 SONGS played 4/14; 6 SONGS played 3/14; 11 SONGS played 2/14; and 10 SONGS played 1/14
