    Interesting. I'm not sure how I feel about it, though the point of it allowing more than just calculated Oscar-bait flicks into the running is a good one.

    On a scale of 1 to 10 (with ten being the worst), the PTI guys just gave this idea a 12.5 :mrgreen:

    i know a LOT of films get released each year, but sure....a LOT of them suck. 10 seems excessive really. may make it a tougher race, but i also think it may lower standards, tho i am sure many believe that has already happened. if it ain't broke, why fix it? :?

    ...while they do use that in advertising even if the film's only nomination was in a technical category. :twisted:

    Definitely, and I think it's one that will benefit in both directions, not only to boost DVD/Theater sales with the "Best Picture nominee" advertisement, but also for the show. Using this year as an example, they could throw in two more nominations of Wall-E and The Dark Knight to try and get more mainstream viewership by using the huge box office movies.

    This just smacks of desperation for TV ratings and studios to engage in the hardcore nomination push. I hate this idea.
