Morpheus: I know *exactly* what you mean. Let me tell you why you're here. You're here because you know something. What you know you can't explain, but you feel it. You've felt it your entire life, that there's something wrong with the world. You don't know what it is, but it's there, like a splinter in your mind, driving you mad. It is this feeling that has brought you to me. Do you know what I'm talking about?
Neo: The Matrix.
Morpheus: Do you want to know what it is?
Neo: Yes.
Morpheus: The Matrix is everywhere. It is all around us. Even now, in this very room. You can see it when you look out your window or when you turn on your television. You can feel it when you go to work... when you go to church... when you pay your taxes. It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth.
Neo: What truth?
Morpheus: That you are a slave, Neo. Like everyone else you were born into bondage. Into a prison that you cannot taste or see or touch. A prison for your mind

It's been 10 years since this groundbreaking movie was made back in 1999. One great movie however the sequels were another story???

Hard to believe it's been 10 years already!!

But yeah, the first one was a great movie...the two sequels sucked some serious ass!
  • I for one loved the entire Triology.

The concept of "The Matrix" is amazing. It was a job well done.

The first movie completely blew my mind . . . I couldn't get enough of it :D

The second and third were major disappointments when measured against the first - on their own, they weren't terrible.

I LIKED the second and third movies, nothing on the level of how much I LOVED the first one. Amazing movie, nothing to compare it.

    *Yawn*

While yes I did enjoy this movie, it got way more hype than it deserved, and the concept while cool, was nothing new.

I think the hype came from it being a sleeper film. It was one of those movies that got very little advertising, if any, and then became a cult classic type of a movie in the theater.

Anyway.... this is a great movie.

Probably one of my top 5 favorite movies ever.

while I dont despise the remaining 2 films, they are a little disapointing, because the first was so great.

    i love them too!
tho the first is vastly superior to the following two, i still love them all simply b/c i love the story. i don't really think the films are so 'challenging'......bascially a messiah story, but they are quite imaginative and the effects and such, ground-breaking at the time. and sure, keanu reeves is such a guilty pleasure of mine  ...and this kinda role is just perfect for him. love it!

This sums it up for me. The second and third movies gradually went downhill. #2 was pretty good and #3 was just good. The effects in all of them were awesome though.
