Any Kevin Smith fans out there?
Some people like him, others hate him and think he's a hack. I, personally, think he's hilarious.

For anyone who is interested, he's coming on tour this fall in MN, MI, IL, WA and CA.
Could be fun.

I'm one of the "think he's a hack" people. Dogma is pretty good though. But God I HATE Clerks.

Yeah, I think there are a lot of folks out there who aren't really impressed with him.
I enjoyed all of his movies, but found he's much more funny when it's him talking, rather than writing/directing. He does a podcast with Scott Mosier (the guy who edits most of his films) and it's hilarious. It's funny how he perceives himself, because he doesn't take himself seriously as a director at all. Just a pretty funny dude.

I like his movies, although Clerks 2 wasn't really that great, it really seemed like rather than being filmed from a script it was filmed from a checklist of all the things that fans expect from a Kevin Smith movie.

And I think I am the opposite of milarso. I like the movies but I find his public persona and his blog and all of that crap really annoying. It seems like he is trying way to hard to be some kind of a character, and it comes off as irritating.

i will be at the Seattle show.

i have listened to every single Smodcast....HILARIOUS...i've seen a couple of his Q&A's on dvd and i love how a fan's question can lead to a 30 minute tangent.

very excited about going to this show.

I am a huge fan, but a lot of his stuff is very "hit or miss". Dogma was a great film.

Tickets for his L.A. show are $60...seems a bit pricey.

    Oh wow.
The Ann Arbor, Mich. tickets go from $60 (front floor), $44.50 (back floor) and $27.50 (balcony).
I'm prolly going for the $27.50 ones.
It's not like he's the kind of entertainer where you have to see him up close. I imagine if you can hear it, it will be funny.

I have seen all his films but was never a real fan. However, Zack and Miri make a porno is the funniest goddamn movie I have seen in years.

Been a huge fan of Kev going to back to when I saw Clerks in a $1 theater with only two other people in the whole place. Haven't stopped loving his stuff since. I wish he, along with a few other people/bands, would bring his tours a little further South.

  • Smith = Legend.

    I shouldn't even BE HERE today! 8-)
Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.

Love Kevin's movies. Clerks is one of my favorites ever. Think a lot of his stuff requires a well functioning brain to enjoy. Maybe that's the problem with those who feel he's a hack. Most people I've met who don't love him are not the brightest people I know.

Mallrats is so underrated and unappreciated by the masses.
