No, it's not. Death is never something to be coy about. SoS, please correct the tittle of this thread. Otherwise it seems like you think it is funny to say the Ed died this morning.
I disagree.
Here's a guy who spent the majority of his life trying to entertain, trying to coax a smile from us.
I think it's fitting to remember him with a laugh.
Sorry if it offended you though. Definitely not my intention.

You didn't offend me. I just think the thread title is morbid.
I know it's supposed to catch people's attention and then you click on it and "Oh, whew, it's a different Ed." but I still didn't like reading it!!
Sorry. Sometimes I'm a very serious-minded person. :?

The thread title deals with death, so, by definition, it was meant to be morbid.

Nah, I feel this thread was created with incredibly bad taste. We lost an American icon, and the OP thought it would be funny to have a play on words on a Pearl Jam message board and just say Ed died this morning. Gee, I hope that got a chuckle. Talk about disrespectful and stupid.
Probably not the best taste, but it's not the end of the world. Does anybody actually think the tread topic is funny? I think we were laughing at a commercial.

heeeeerrrreeeeeee's johnny!
and sure, publisher's clearinghouse.
ed is an icon, for sure.
Yeah maybe I was just thinking that Publisher's Clearinghouse tainted everything else after that. I just don't think he qualifies for icon status...just my two cents

actually, i think the publisher's clearinghouse gig actually adds to his *icon* status. icon doesn't necessarily have to be all high and lofty in my opinion. hell, we're talking entertainers here....so yea, the fact that he did some kitschy stuff just adds to his own icon status imo. eh, just the years and years and years he'd been with carson....and his "here's johnny" tag, pretty much sealed his icon status to me...
but hey, it's ok...you're *only* north american.....;) so "american icons" won't tarnish your image.

Yeah, it is. I was actually gonna quote whoever mentioned rich and famous in their reply, and question the rich part, with a link to the commercial.
He did have a great run. He was pitchman for Budweiser for 20 years, I found out today.
I disagree.
