New Orleans to be added soon is the rumor too. Always a great show if you get a chance to see them.

Those are official dates from the Pogues board. They usually play the Northeast around St. Patricks day, at least they have the last few years.

It will be weird to see them at a venue other then the Wiltern in L.A.

They seem to always play L.A. in October.

Yeah, and only 1 night in L.A.? They played 3-4 nights at the Wiltern the last few times, right?

Maybe they'll add one extra show, but not much room in the schedule. How big is L.A. Live?

In 2006, they played 3 nights at the Wiltern ( I Met my girlfriend at the 1st show...I called her "an old slut on Junk" during Fairytale of NY, and, luckily, she was familiar with the song lyrics! )

They played the Wiltern again in 07 (2 nights, I think), but the sales were slow, so it seems a bit of a stretch to do 2 nights at Club Nokia, which holds approx 2,000 people.

So anybody hit these shows up yet? Going to the San Diego show tonight, the reviews I've read have been mixed. Some of the shows Shane sounds like he's somewhat coherent, and it goes down from there (which is all relative with Shane). Regardless, it should be a good time, I really enjoy watching the rest of the band play too.

Shane was bombed at the Seattle show. It was still a great time but it was a much better performance last time they were here back in 2007. That 2007 gig was one of the best shows I had ever been to EVER! Guess I caught them (him) on a good night. Like you said, you'll have a fun time regardless but here's hoping they bring it for you all in San Diego like they did for us in Seattle back in 2007!

Yeah, it'll be fun regardless. The 2007 tour I thought was really good. That was the first time I had seen them, and I went in preparing for the worst, but was surprised at how good it was.

My first time seeing them as well in 2007 and I had the exact same mindset! I remember telling my wife before the show, "This is either going to be a total and complete trainwreck or incredibly fucking awesome. Either way it's going to be a spectacle we won't soon forget." It was fucking awesome. :P

Yeah, that's more or less what I expect from them too. I'm going with a friend who's seen them several years ago now and he claims that was the best show he's been to.

Turned out to be a great show. Shane was in (relatively) good shape, and the band was great (as always). Place was packed for a monday night. Crowd was drunk and wild.

Two highlights:

1) Being center, about 6 people back when the Pogues went on. Pretty much right where the pit started to form. Held my ground for the first few songs before retreating to the side. After the 2nd song, the guy next to me asks me how old I am (he's in his early 20's, and has been using me to hold himself up from the rest of the pit). I tell him I'm 41. He looks at me and says "Dude! That's Fuckin' Awesome". Not sure if this should make me feel good, or old, or both. Still a funny moment. Can't imagine seeing them in a seated theater, it would be a totally different experience.

2) My wife plays indoor soccer. She bought a Pogue Mahone T-Shirt to wear to the games so she could tell the other team to "kiss my arse" in irish.

Love it! 40 is the new 30 and that guy's comment should make you feel good. It's great down there! I had to chase my wife into The Pogues pit for the last couple of songs in Seattle -- she's freaking fearless! It wasn't too rough and we stayed to the end reemerging a sweaty mess. Loads of fun!

So in looking at the Pogues board, I see the following. I'm sure it was scary for the band, but in retrospect it's a classic read.

Spider Stacey posts on the Pogues board that Shane has been missing for 24 hours in New Orleans. They were playing on Sunday (11/1), apparently Shane didn't show up until 3 songs into the set.

I can tell Shane was well tossed for the Houston show but put on a great performance anyway. Great crowd too. Probably more on the mellow side for a Pogues show. No pit or drunk fights to be found.
