as i was hitting submit i realized that i probably was late to the party... but then i figured the other one was probably serious about it

I know, I am sure there are going to be 75 more as people start reading the article in the other thread- it is a really good, very sad song. I can't wait to hear the full band version.

I really began to wonder if PJ really cared anymore at the end of Vs. What is it they are indifferent about?

did anyone ever stop to think ...

it's the last song on the album, so it's called The End...as in the end of the record...not the last album.

    haha.

I hope for at least another full album after Backspacer..
So they will have 10 studio albums, the first one called Ten, and the last one being actually the number 10

Remember "Parting Ways" being the last song on Binaural?

    End of discussion.

I'd say it's a possibility. The band's been beefing up their promo items (reissues, EV's 3rd leg of his solo tour, getting Target involved in promo of new album, etc.) They're marketing their way to retirement. I'm not saying that "the End" signifies the actual end, but with all the profits they'll be rolling in of late, they'll be all set for retirement. :( I'm just saying, it's not far-fetched.

As long as they continue to keep touring though, that's all I'll need to stay happy. :)

I know this thread was made in jest...but to ease the minds of those who think this is "The End"....

“This is all an experiment. We’re trying to figure it out. It’s changing all the time, and this is the best way to do it ourselves that we can think of. By the time we put out our next record it could be completely different, or, you know, all those things will fail and we’ll go back with our hat in our hands and beg for our jobs back at Sony.” He laughs. “I doubt that. It’s not an exact science. And people need to relax just a little bit. We’re doing the best we can.” Kelly Curtis, Billboard interview.

The Doors ended their 1st album with "The End".

Then went on to release 5 or 6 more albums.

Wow... every album is always their last album. I love how these threads always come out around the time of a new album/tour. Too bad this will be the first of MANY.

    Last lines of "The End":

    "My dear
    The end comes near
    I'm here
    But not much longer"

So, they're here. As in present tense here. But not for long. Reading between the lines, I wouldn't say this is their last album, but rather one of the last.

I'll only worry if Boom releases a triple-album of B3 organ standards, called All Things Must Pass.

Wow this thread looks familiar.....just take out THE END and sub in PARTING WAYS. I remember everyone crying saying PJ was breaking up after they heard that song, but we can see how that worked out.

If it makes anyone feel any better when Riot Act came out, Ed said in an interview that "Pearl Jam is only half over"... So if this is true... PJ will have about 5 more albums after backspacer, though I wouldn't even expect that many... If they did 3-4 more albums I would be satisfied... This can't be the last.
