Is it me, or do the opening riffs in both of these songs sound almost the same?

    Never caught that before, but you're right. I mean, they're not too close (different key, tempo, and slightly different relative notes), but I definitely can see the comparison.
    Using the word "methinks" in your message board posts doesn't make you look smart.

    good ears, I would have never for one second think they could sound similar but I just listened to both and your right.

    they both have different tempos. the only similarity is that the main riff for both is played on the bottom 2 strings. come as you are has 2 chords on the chorus while satans bed has 4. if your going to call them similar you might as well throw RVM in there too
