This is what I'm hearing for lyrics - if anyone has corrections, please help... I'll be posting a tab I'm working on as soon as I get around to finishing it... I've figured out the full song, it's just a matter of tabbing it.

I'm editing it based on words I can hear and agree with.

    is it room or road? Also, I hear slide "up" next to me.....not slide "on"

    One was played on national TV and the Debut of the new "Tonight Show" at that, the other is being played at Ed's solo gigs. Im pretty sure the Band had an inkling that they would get heard. The target song I will give you that it was probably not meant to be heard, especially that crappy recording but why again are we feeling sorry?

    the song makes me very sad because it makes me think of ed's own mortality. but, it's so melodious and beautiful.

    Really hard to tell what he says at the "I just want to hold on" part. It sound like 'luck' but it is possible he flubbed it. It could be 'love' but the line "I don't think there is such a thing" doesn't sound right given the context of the song. The narrator wants to be told he is loved so why not believe in it, and he caught a disease, certainly bad luck, or none at all.

    Either way, just a fantastic song. Wow. Really, really impressed with this one.

    i recognize this post was about the lyrics, not meaning.. but maybe it's a fear he has about his future "the end".

    He is more than friends with the mother of his kids

    His fear about being a smoker (his fault) and is dying with a cancer
