3:25 mark.. LBC's beginning sounds pretty much like it.
Nothing big.. I was just listening to Collective Soul.. and noticed the sound similarity.

I'm just teasing. Both of those songs annoy the shit out of me. They might be the first band responsible for stealing Eddie's "drawl" and using it in a totally annoying way. (This was before the days of Creed.)

SG: 10/4/08<-- MET STONE!!!
They were a pretty good live band back in the day. All of their stuff had a harder edge to it live than on record, for some reason. At one point, about 95ish, they were covering "Crazy Train" regularly -- and it didn't seem all that out of place.
Let's see the Gin Blossoms pull THAT off.
for the least they could possibly do
"..That's One Happy Fuckin Ghost.."
“..That came up on the Pillow Case...This is for the Greek, With Our Apologies.....”
Yeah, they're original guitarist could rip. The solo in Shine is pretty awesome. I don't remember them ever bein lumped in with the Candleboxes and Bush's of the world til more recently.
Its like saying wishlist and LBC sound the same.

Collective soul is a great live band though. They actually are better live than on albums. Ed Roland's voice sounds better live as it seems to be too overproduced in the studio on some of the songs.
Collective souls hits include:
Shine
December
The world I know
Precious Decleration
Listen
blame
Heavy

Get their greatest hits cd if you want to check them out just saying. But they are a great live band. Haven't seen them since Ross left though.

Collective soul is a great band from the 90's. Top 5 for me.
1)Pearl Jam
2)AIC
3)STP
4)Collective Soul
5)Nirvana
Those that can be trusted can change their mind.
I would swap STP with Mother Love Bone and put STP at 6. The rest is pefect.

I caught a Collective Soul concert on AXS-TV recently. It was from 2012 and they played Dosage in its entirety (well, except for the one track that was sung by the guitarist who left the band). I bought their first two albums in the 90's and didn't really follow them after that. I found a copy of Dosage on CD for 95 cents at one of my local record stores, and I'm really digging it so far. Apparently they worked really hard on this album because the previous one didn't do so well, and I think it really shows in the production.
Oh. This thread is from 2009. Why are we talking about this again now??

That band did put out a lot of radio friendly music though and a few of their records were great.
Man listen to this great song from the album Dosage (at full blast!):

I love Dosage. Great hidden track at the end of the record.
Collective Soul's 2nd album (self titled) is really a great album from the 90s. Almost every song is good. They definitely sound good live, the problem that makes their stuff sound kinda dated at this point is that their albums are really kinda over-produced. Fake sounding, too-crisp instruments, etc. Definitely sound better live, though their stage presence is weak.
I even have the guitar tab book for the self titled album! That's how much I used to like it! That and the Foo Fighters first album pretty much define 1995 to me!
And for the record I like the Spin Doctors (great jam band with a shitty overplayed hit and a singer who is not great and obviously the weakest link of an otherwise talented group of players) AND the Gin Blossoms (New Miserable Experience, another classic 90s album, but another extremely weak stage-presence band) too, so nuts to you all.
