after 15 years.
Fuck me. Billion times harder than I thought it would be. Nearly became a serial killer.

I was able to do it for months at a time before and fell back into it. It takes conscious effort a ton in the beginning. The conscious moments decrease over time. I quit for good, sort of. The habit is done, but Im still able to smoke on special occasions... maybe 2-3 packs a year. I consider them like cigars. That made it easier for me to quit.
Good job. Keep it up! Many people you told you were quitting likely had doubts. Prove them wrong.
You should start to feel good and cleansed shortly as well.
nice addition!
I tried quitting cold turkey once. I spent six nights dreaming about walking to the convenience store across the street from my house and buying cigarettes. The dream went like this: walk across the street, buy a pack from my favorite clerk who worked there almost every night, walk back across the street, repeat. I gave in on the seventh day. That was two years ago. Once I get myself settled again, I'm going to try to quit using lozenges, the patch, or some other kind of aid. Cold turkey just won't do it for me without proper motivation.
I used to tell myself that when I have a child on the way, I'll quit then. I'm single now and know that kids are a long way off still, but I'm really beginning to feel the effects of smoking a pack a day and I want to be able to stay active without being short of breath. It's time to quit. I knew that a child on the way would be enough motivation to quit cold turkey. I had a co-worker a couple years ago who was 30 years older than me and said he quit when his wife got pregnant 22 years earlier. He told me he loved the smell of my cigarettes and still dreamed about smoking about once a week, yet he hadn't had a smoke in all that time. Sounds tough, but I love that guy and I know that if he can do it, I can, too.
Persistence is the key to success.
Almost 3 years ago I quit.
I saved a lot of money and I feel so much better.
Still like to smell 2nd hand smoke though. (Just not a lot of it.)
On the positive side, once you quit, you'll probably be less smelly.
Did you go on the patch, or did you stop cold turkey???
Good Luck!
Wish you were here...
♥~RIP Dad
cold turkey. I will check it out
day 6 begins
I watched it first hand kill my grandfather (My other grandfather died from smoking related illness before I was born), So I know how hard it is on the back end of someones life.
Keep up the good work.

seriousy made me laugh.....mostly b/c i know/remember that feeling all too well. :?
all i can say is kudos to you - keep at it!
if you truly, truly want to BE a non-smoker....you will be. that is it. the utmost desire to succeed. it is a mega-bitch, but it is doable. i say this as a now 5+ year non-smoker....who used to LOVe to smoke, and smoked for 20 years. for me, after numerous failed quit attempts, finally knew i truly wanted to stop, and i used the nicoderm patch and wellbutrin, and both aided so well which helped me to overcome my serial killer desires and the smokes too.
you can do it!!!
Let's just breathe...
I am myself like you somehow
Good luck - you can do it!!!
