I remember reading a while back about this company that makes like a big book or binder if you wanna call it that, that you buy plastic sleeves to just put your posters in and you keep it in the binder, I know somebody on here knows what I'm talking about, help me out with a link of some kind.

A lot of stores sell that kind of binder, stores like pearl and utrecht, is not hard to find

jerrys is good, but, ASW Warehouse has the same prices on the same portfolios and filler inserts .. .and if you sign up for their newsletter, they send out 20% off coupons once every few weeks ... WAIT FOR THE 20% OFF COUPON. (don't bite on the $20 off coupon, WAIT FOR 20% OFF)

    ASW Warehouse:

This is for the 24 x 36 sized portfolio ... which are much tougher to find .... there are smaller sizes. You might be able to get away with a 18 x 24 depending on what posters you want to store.

    case - $120 - http://www.aswexpress.com/art-supply/ca ... 5149000000
    refill - $37 - http://www.aswexpress.com/art-supply/ca ... 5156000000

I think its time for me to get a Flat File.... Between posters I buy and Photos that I print(I am a photographer) I am running out of room in books and it doesn't make sense to buy more books or refill pages. I have to come up with a way that I can file everything in one area. First, I have to finish my basement and that alone will allow me to hang about 15 gig posters so that will help and it will also give me the room for the flat file.

anyone know if I buy a 24x36 binder, can I put smaller 18x24 refills into it? Will the holes match up?

Just wondering since the smaller refills are cheaper and I have posters that are much smaller than 24x36

    thanks

do NOT store your photos in the basement! :o  :o
even if finished, heated/air-conditioned, more than likely the indoor environment will STILL be rather moist and/or humid in comparison to other storage space in your home. the *ideal* place to store your photographs is in your main living space. i know it's a pain....but it's the truth. temps/enivronment there are far more SAFE for storage of your work. just my 2 cents.

Is it best to store each poster in it's own insert, or do they make something like a backerboard that could be used in between two posters per insert (front/back)?

I know what you are saying, however my "basement" isn't really a basement, I have more of a raised ranch(with a 2nd story),I just call it the basement.

Love , Love , Love my poster portfolio .
It helps with mass quantities and if you arent able ( or rich enough ) to frame every one of your prints, or you can take care of them until you can properly frame them.

My port measures approx 24 x 36 and has an elastic band inside the cover and a huge pocket as well.

Here are page by page documentation of my portfolio , perhaps it can give you an idea of how your posters will look / fit into one of these spectacular portfolio cases.

    thanks folks.
i am pretty sure i got it at jerrys santaramas ( ? spelling )
i believe there may have been a link somewhere earlier in the thread.

however , try a google search for " deSign / picturesque presentation case "

Collection is pretty much at a standstill for now ( until the next show, of course ) ;)
i've ammassed what few i have over the last couple of years , some off ebay , some off EB ( when it was working ) and of course many thru the Tenclub.

In case anybody is interested - just bought a leather 18 x 24 portfolio at jerry's in norwalk ct for $58 - which includes a sleave of 5 (which nomally sell for $28 a piece anyways). The port was marked down from $166. I thought it was a great deal and it seems to be very well made.

Also, the 18 x 24 will hold all of the klausen prints (except for the U2/Pj hawaii oversized print), but a few of the Ames are slightly too big (08 MSGs for example).

Not sure if other stores would honor that price, but if you're interested, its worth a shot!

they usually come in packs of 5 sheets. there is a acid free piece of black paper in each (to protect the prints), which allows you to put two posters in each sheet, for a total of 10.
