...if they want to re-release all their albums before their 20th anniversary like they said. I just want some info or even a song sample from the re-release of VS :)

Will Vs. really sound any different? I don't think they're remixing it.

no idea. my guess is that they will probably re-release the next few in bundles (VS and vitalogy, no code and yield, binaural and riot act then PJST and backspacer)

Why the need for PJ to rerelease all the albums anyway? Are the originals just not good enough, or is it all just a marketing scheme?

Really, I've simply been wondering this since initially hearing about this.

I bought the remixed Ten off amazon because it came with the MTV unplugged on DVD which I've been aching to get for about ... oh ... 17 years ... and, with a discout I had, it was essentially free.

It'll probably be the last remix I'll buy ... I don't tihnk it took these songs in enough of a positive direction to justify rebuying every album ... probably because it's what I'm used to, but for most songs, I prefer the original mix.

Yeah there is really no reason to re-release Vs. thru Avocado. Maybe they will be remastered or something but definately not remixed. I am assuming they are going to add an additional CD, DVD, or extra bonus tracks, maybe some outtakes, demos, etc. THEY HAVE TO DO SOMETHING SPECIAL, or else no one will buy it....

The Ten Reissue was extremely well done in my opinion. The songs sound so much better. The Bonus tracks were pretty cool, and the deluxe edition, yet expensive, was pretty cool too. I mean cmon, a live show on vinyl and a reproduction of the momma-son tape, plus other goodies!!! Good stuff PJ, it's obvious Ed and Jeff put some time and effort into that thing. :ugeek:

But who knows about the rest of the albums, I really don't see the need to re-issue any of em, whereas Ten needed to be re-mixed in my opinion.

So it could be hit or miss.... we will see, I'm in no way excited about any of it considering PJ is releasing a new album soon. It is definately a way for Sony to cash in, that much is obvious. I just really don't understand why the band agreed to re-release anything besides Ten. Maybe it was in their old contract with Epic, like Lost Dogs & Greatest Hits were released after Riot Act. Epic is not gonna act on this contractual agreement until the time was right. Or maybe those albums are just not readily available at most music stores anymore (PJ did sell a lot of albums) and the PJ camp wanted to put them back on the shelves. I'm purely speculating here folks.
  • I started what turned out to be quite a big thread on this subject some time ago; as others have said, there is no need to re-release anything.

They did Ten and that was fine, now leave the rest alone. Don't mess with brilliance.

I don't really care about re-releasing stuff to be honest, unless they're all going to be 2 disc sets w/ a whole CD filled with out takes and b-sides...

What would be even better is leaving the albums alone and releasing a boxed set that goes beyond Lost Dogs material.

    Well said.

A re-issue would be cool. I find the idea of collectible goodies a nice treat for an overly obsessed fan. I don't see a reason to re-mix the music, like you said above don't mess with brilliance.

But, if it's something the band wants to do, and is something they've been wanting to do for years, I say go for it. It's their music, and they should be able to present, or re-present it anyway they choose. If it makes them happy, that's great!

I wouldn't be surprised if we get them all in one big go or split up for a couple bigger releases. That's what alotta bands/record labels do when it comes to remasters.

Most likely they'll just brickwall the cd's and issue some much needed good vinyl versions. Probably get some goodies tossed in there too, so I don't see how the reissue could be a bad thing.

I think the Ten re-issue sounded so much better. that definitely needed to be done

I personally think theyre just releasing them, maybe theyll remix Vs. because it sounds really neat to hear some of the riffs redone or something, alot of the songs have catchy guitar riffs that could sound well remixed. I think that would be it for remixing, maybe Binaural they would remix which would just own, but the other albums seem fine.

Personally, I think theyre releasing them just to get Pearl Jam back on the shelves at stores. Cuz every music store Ive been to has Ten remastered, Lost Dogs, and then like either Pearl Jam or Yield. I can never find No Code, Riot Act, and Binaural, they would also have the occasion Live on Two Legs. So to recap, I think theyre just releasing them to get there music back on shelves at stores so people whove never heard of them before to start listening to them. It would be nice to target the younger generation, because I dont want to grow up with kids my age and younger being obsessed with Boy Bands and Disney. I went to the Vedder Show in Chicago in August, I was the only person there under 16 years old, maybe 20 even.
