What does 'syncing' a laptop do when a business collects....

...them.....I assume it is for upgrades to their server. Any techies know.

    "syncing" implies that information is having a second copy of your documents/etc. - most of the time when you are "syncing" it has to do with a smart phone or iPod.

    when I request to work on a laptop, usually I am either:

    adding programs
    upgrading programs
    removing unwanted programs
    backing up documents/email
    syncing smart phones
    etc.

    PS - not saying anything about the OP (I don't know your personal habits ;)) but when people look at porn on work laptops, the IT department WILL know and be pissed about it because they are the ones that will have to clean off the viruses/spyware that come along with it.
