It’s late in the evening
A family is grieving
Their soldier is coming home to no light
He’s coming home in a bag
Where his body will sag
For the rest of his morning, noons, and nights
He went off to a country
In hopes to do something
That would protect the people he loves and their rights
But a bullet to the head
Took his life instead
With no mercy, no forgiveness, and much might
Now a little boy is crying
While his mother is trying
To tell him why his father is gone for the rest of his life.
As of May 21, 2009... 4,296 American Soldiers have died in the Iraq war. God bless, protect, and bring them home soon.
