I've always listened to their albums but I didn't get into following the setlists and tours until the '06 tour. I started to in '03 but had no money to go to any shows so I stopped because I would get jealous lol.

since 1992. 1st song/video heard form pj, even flow. my brother & his friends had a drinking spree at our house back then & they were playing the seattle sounds so loud. i thought that was cool & i never heard that kind of rock before. my brother said, that's eddie vedder...and he spits a lot while singing....cool! :D

I'd have to rack my brain to figure exactly when it was, but it was before Vs came out. I remember thinking Even Flow and Alive were cool songs but when Jeremy video came out I bought the Ten on cassette. I listened to those three songs over and over and eventually stumbled on to Why Go and Black and then fell in love with the entire album and band.

When I was about 10 (20 now) I was OBSESSED with Last Kiss. I would literally sit next to my boom box/radio in my room listing to 97.5 PST waiting for it to come on (which at the time was about 1 per 3 hours). I asked my Aunt to get me a Pearl Jam album for Christmas and instead received the soundtrack to Tarzan by Phil Collins..... Needless to say I was devastated. Finally about 2 years ago, fully forgetting my former obsession with Last Kiss, I started hearing WWS on the radio. I kind of liked it, so I downloaded a couple PJ songs from Limewire (sorry, I've since bought every album legally). The next 3 songs got me into them. Breath, Black, and Yellow Ledbetter. Been about 2 years now and I still remember the exact songs that I first downloaded. Looking back I think it’s a great mix of their styles to get me or anyone into the band. Breath rocks out and has some cool lyrics, Ledbetter had a nice sound to it from Ed especially I thought, while Black shows off their slower side and is simply an amazing song. Took me about 3 weeks of listening to these songs once in a while until I fully realized just how amazing this band was. I remember lying in bed one night listening to Ledbetter, and it was like I had an epiphany. I don’t know how to explain it, but all of a sudden I LOVED PEARL JAM. Next step was to raid my Dad’s CD collection and he had VS. Listened to that for a while, and I really liked it, but none of the songs really jumped out to me (at that point at least, now its my favorite album). I really liked the song dissident though. Next step was to visit the ole pearljam website, Here to my delight I found I could download bootlegs for free. Took me a while to figure out how to do that, but from that point on I basically only listened to live music. This was another interesting way that kind of exposed me first off, to how great a live band they were, and also to just expose me to a wide range of their music and covers. I bought Ten, No Code, Binaural, Yield, and Riot Act all at once. Later buying Avocado, and finally Vitalogy for 6 bucks at a supermarket just a couple months ago. I can’t wait to finally experience Pearl Jam live next week!

you are in for a treat my friend.

i just saw them only for my second show in Tampa and it was unbelievable...
they played my absolute favorite song and I was with my girlfriend...we had brought some joints and I had a beer...which is pretty damn cool considering i'm 19! (thank god for my 24 year old girlfriend at times like that)

damn dude, I hope you have fun!!

    since the summer (here)of 91/92.

kind of off the subject, but not quite, today i picked up a local wellington (new zealand) music mag from 1989, it had a review of (early!) soundgarden and also of my best friends band (number nine) and i thought, wow, music was pretty exciting then...i remember we listened to the wailing ultimate a lot back then, which was a homestead compilation, green river got a mention in the liner notes but weren't on the album, shame. also that year we listened to loads of big black, rem, husker du, replacements, jimi...i was kindling for pj. there's no way i could NOT have loved them once i heard them.

I can still remember playing TEN for the first time and thinking that I didn't have the volume up enough because I couldn't hear the intro (Master/Slave) and then ONCE started and blew out my speakers. (Well, not literally, but it blew me away)

    Awesome. I was 12.

Since the beginning I've been following the band. Got the pre-Ten, Alive promo EP sent to me from Epic/Sony Records after writing a letter to them about Mother Love Bone. They also hooked me up with tix & backstage passes for my 1st show (plus the first Fan Club single, CBGB's tix, Mookey shirt, etc.). My son was born the same week that Ten was released and will be going with me to Hartford for his first Pearl Jam show.

  • I've been following PJ since I was a sophomore in high school in 1993. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see them live until 1998. I remember my mom got me the "Choices" T-shirt back in 94 and I wore the hell out of that shirt. I should have gone to see them in 1996 in Fort Lauderdale, but I wasn't too crazy about No Code, which is now my favorite album of theirs. That show in 1998 still gives me the shivers... last show of the Yield tour.... 4th row.... hurricane on the way (that never showed up, I might add), opening with Release... the ping pong match. I got the bootleg not too long after the show.
