After getting laid off at the end of last July, I finally got another "real" fulltime job. I put real in quotes because I've been working at a bar to make ends meet over the last year. Good, fun work, but not my first career choice  .

Anyway, got a fulltime gig as a sports writer in Ann Arbor, Mich. Start on Thursday.

Wooo Hooo!!!

Man that is sweet, congratulations and good luck.

A couple of weeks ago I started a new job and my boss wrote me a check and wrote it up and signed it to me for $700,000. I said thank you and waited till his wife came home and gave it to her, she said you take it. I said and what do you want me to do with it? I decided to take it to his office to give to his secretary. Oh he has a bit of dementia.

Needless to say they're multi, multi millionaires somewhere near 400 mil.

    Congratulations, and good luck!

I know the feeling; I finished university back in July and came home to work for the Civil Service but it was a temporary contract which finished at the end of January. Since then, I've been looking for a full-time job because I'm saving for a wedding and a mortgage deposit.

Anywhoo, I finally got a job as a Health Care Assistant at the local hospital and I start on July 1st so I'm quite excited!

I personally enjoy NOT working. You know what I'm saying? Sleeping in, pacing myself, not working for some corporate swine that only cares about the bottom line... The past few months have been very enjoyable. I figure I deserve it after working in a shitty industry for almost a decade straight. But yeah, congrats on your job thingy.

Yeah, I hear you about not working. I really enjoyed my time off, granted the first four months after I got laid off I was going through chemo, so that wasn't much fun (I got diagnosed with bone cancer like a week and a half before I got laid off.. seriously the worst month ever  )
But I'm ready to go back to work, even for swine. Selling out sucks, but the pay is better than the alternative :D
