EVedder show Etiquette-To the girl from South Philly

Wow…what a fabulous show Friday night (8/12) at the Tower Theater in Upper Darby. Great music, great stories....not so great fans.

I’m not sure what some Pearl Jam “fans” were expecting from a show featuring Eddie solo but it certainly was not supposed to be a raucous PJ show. I was not fortunate enough to score tickets through the Ten Club- so I got my tickets the old fashioned way and was happy to get any seat in the house...except the one in front of the girl from South Philly, what a horrible “fan”! All I can say is to scream at the top of your Fran Dresher sounding voice at Eddie who was over 55 rows away from you to “Shut the F**K Up and sing!” is ridiculous! I barely got to hear a single song over your constant talking. Yes, I was a little bitter after paying $100 a ticket and $10.25 for a beer but I couldn’t believe that you paid the same if not more than me and talked the whole time about everything from the show the night before to your boyfriend who couldn’t sit with you to the amount of beer you drank prior to sitting in your seat.

Dear PJ fans going to an Eddie show,
PLEASE keep in mind that most people pay a decent amount of money because they want to hear him sing and hear what he has to say. Talking about everything under the sun while others around you are trying to enjoy the show is not acceptable and yelling at Eddie to shut up is simply appalling.

That would make me so mad. Sorry some buttcrack spoiled your experience a bit.
  • It's not even that, it's really disrespectful to Eddie. I hate to say it but I have read more things about fans being rude then about the quality of the shows. Eddie's doing a tour, he deserves our respect. And if you are not enjoying yourself, don't be selfish and ruin it for everyone else.

Thats sounds terrible....we too had a loser drunk girl in front of us in Albany night 2 sitting in the 3rd row who constantly blocked our view and others by waving her drunk arms all over through the whole show and even stood up and yelled "suck my fucking dick" at Ed.....it was the first time in my life I wanted to punch a woman.

What kind of trash does this?

If your reading this drunk girl........I hope you get hit by a bus....our planet would be better off.

Still didnt ruin our night with Ed though....he was great.

Why pay good money to ruin yours and others experince....I simply dont get that.

Thanks all for understanding my frustration. I didn’t even post half the crap that was going on around me during the show. A brawl almost broke out between to meatheads in front of me; some other dude was screaming “Fuck You” each time it got quiet and I think I already mentioned $10.50 for a beer of shitty tasting Miller Lite!

i read that a couple guys from night 1 baltimore got kicked out for allegedly "tripping on lsd". maybe this should be a general rule of thumb. if you cause a disturbance, you leave. this could be the ushers job. i mean, if they are as good at spotting trouble makers as they are people with camers, i think we will all have a wonderful experience.

This happens at pretty much any and every concert, unfortunately. Even loud, electric concerts, there will be "that guy" or girl who has to talk (scream) at full volume, and because they're talking (screaming) into their friend's ear next to them, they don't realize (and don't care) that everyone around them can hear them over/interfering with the actual music that we all paid to see and hear.

It's not just EVedder lack of etiquette, it's lack of etiquette on all humanity (or at least just Americans). Fucking bullshit.

Texting on a bright screen is almost just as bad, at least in a seated theater show, too.

Unfortunately, I held my tongue even after she spilled beer on me…I guess it was toward the end of the show anyway and my time was already ruined… I just stopped caring, guess I figured it was a lost cause

For the most part I am pretty good at not letting annoying people get on my nerves. However, the thing that gets me the most are the idiots that use the empty plastic beer cups as urinals during shows and then set them back on the floor for everyone to knock over and dance in the rest of the night. I dont know if they are too lazy to go the bathroom, dont want to miss any of the show, or just dont care, but I just dont get it.

Get your lazy ass to the bathroom if you feel the need to piss.

I was in the row behind them down about ten seats and they were just really drunk - you could smell it from our seats. The reason the one guy kept standing up and waving his arms was because he was about to hurl at any moment and had no idea where he even was. I've seen people tripping before and it looked to me like these dudes were drunk rather than stoned. Neither could walk nor stand without staggering and one kept waving a lit bic around everyone's head. People got up and left it was so bad. What got me was this was about 15 rows from center stage (Club tickets?) and they carried on so loudly you could barely hear Liam at all  . I was really pissed so after Liam finished, I asked the usher to please have them removed and several other people came up as well asking for the same thing. They said they would get them out of there. Fortunately security took them out before Ed ever hit the stage. It's great to have a good time but this was way over the line.

I was lucky enough to not be near any really drunk/annoying people during the show. However, while we were waiting outside to meet Ed after a great show (baltimore 1), there was an EXTREMELY drunk guy in front of me and my girlfriend. He was about to leave and then Ed came out. ugh this guy sucked, Ed's security told everyone no hugs and hes not signing anything for the most part everyone was greatful just to see him, and then the drunk guy goes running up to Ed and says "EDDD I NEED A HUG FROM YOU MAN! no handshakes, i only hug!" He totally made everyone tense, and even though Ed said hello to everyone, this guy totally cut the experience short and made a complete ass of himself.

I'm sure anyone who waited around after the show recalls this guy

I was at the Memphis show. Someone sitting near me had some really musky perfume on. By the time Liam was finished I had the worst migraine. I wasn't able to enjoy Ed. I seriously considered leaving my head hurt so bad.
Please people don't swim in perfume before you leave your house!

    Some people are just sick.

But on a lighter note, it reminds me of the Patton Oswalt Werewolves and Lollipop video
where a guy in the audience starts peeing on the guy next to him.

Ed just kinda smiled and said next time.. and kept moving down the line of fans. The drunk proceeded to follow Ed, still talking to him in his drunken slurs and asking for hug, finally Ed's security grabbed him and held him against the wall until Ed was leaving. The guy was relentless
