Ten Club Pulling Plug On Youtube

I understand the whole no cameras allowed therefore there should be no posting of pics or vids here.(E.V solo shows all pulled by tenclub from youtube)But whats the big deal with the yotube vids? I mean nobody will say if these shows will ever be released as a bootleg or dvd, and anyone who got a vid paid good money to go in and see a show they will want to always remember. Are the youtube vids gonna really hurt any type of pre-sale or marketing of a possible bootleg if there ever is one?( which I really hope there will be) And if so, do you really think we wouldn't purchase something cuz we've seen 3 minute clips on youtube. I mean DAMN.. I've spent over $2000 the past year or so for these solo shows, and i cant even come home and watch a two minute clip of something i might have missed??? Please somebody " in the know" Let us know if there is even an idea of the possibility of future releases of EV shows. I cant afford every show and my brain is starting to hurt from trying to remember it all. ROCKIN IN THE FREE WORLD!!!!!!!!!

You make really good points and I would assume most fans would agree with you, but since there is a no taping policy that all ticker buyers are well aware of the ten club has the right to take down all videos. Whatever there reasons are that is the policy and they are going to enforce it.

Yeah, They're enforcing it like the fuckin " PATRIOT ACT " . All I want is some info. BUt till then i'll continue to try and beat them to it so can catch five more minutes of him. Or at least 39 seconds of " The kids are alright" I wish they were that quick with my Deep Magazine.

Yes, I definitely want the shows on Youtube. I've seen Eddie in Albany last Monday and fell in love with his version of Mr. State Trooper. Now I can't watch it again! This is sooo sad. Even if I would watch Eddie's Solo shows on Youtube 24/7, I still would go to his concerts! There's a big difference of seeing him on a screen and LIVE!

Since they're pulling the plug, maybe the mods can ask someone close to Ed and ask him if it's ok if they can put out official clips from the shows, ala the 2000 shows on the old synergy site.

There's another thread about this stuff on AET (though not only PJ related but all bands) and why stuff is being pulled off the likes of youtube.

well said...if they dont allowed that,at least make an official video to see some minutes..anyway for me as a european 10c didnt allowed to buy tickets of ev solo concerts,so this type of vids is the only way that this tour ever happen for me..
"...Dimitri...He talks to me...'.."The Ghost of Greece..".
    "..That's One Happy Fuckin Ghost.."
“..That came up on the Pillow Case...This is for the Greek, With Our Apologies.....”
  • Agreed!
Maybe either let us record ourselves or release something official.
This Chinese Government-type censorship on the vids and bootlegs is going in the wrong direction, especially for PJ

You bought a ticket for the privilege to attend a live performance. Just because the technology exists does not mean you have the right to have access to re-watch the show in perpetuity. (You don't get a DVD copy along with your ticket at the movie theater.). Clearly they/he have their reasons and that is their right as owners of the art/content.

I do agree that from a viral marketing standpoint that some YouTube vids would only create more good buzz but its their choice.

Agreed. However, fans have to respect the wishes of artists even if we don't always like to.

I posted video of Eddie from outside the Tower Theater from Friday night on Youtube and it was taken down??? This makes no sense to me!! How is it wrong to post him meeting fans? It was not from inside????

Thanks just really sad. Seriously Ten Club? If it's outside in a public place they have NO RIGHT to pull that down. The inside clearly said no cameras. You can shoot whatever you want outside.

you tube gets hits and thus dollars for its content
but the artist does not get a nickel

I have no problem with the artists choosing what they will allow to be free on the net
how would you feel if youtube was making money off your image, in concert or on the street, and not giving you a nickel or any creative control?

personally, I think there will be a DVD and ED just doesnt want the low quality vids of his performances circulating, but I think its also the unauthorized, unlicensed, use of his image.

ed and the band have always supported bootlegging for personal use- broadcasting concert footage or other stuff (meeting ed on the street say) on youtube is not really part of that

so enjoy your vids on your computer, burn copies for friends,
    but dont publicly post em

Then how do sites like TMZ get away with posting celebrity videos?

Then how do sites like TMZ get away with posting celebrity videos?
Well lets just say there is a fine line between "journalism" and posting unauthorized content.
If TMZ posted something, and PJ management complained, they would argue first amendment right to free speech, that EV is a celebrity and that anything he does is news and publishable.
Its get much more complicated when you are talking about copyrighted songs or licensed material.
You tube does not present itself as journalism as far as I know, and that is part of why they take down content.
But a party who posted a youtube vid of Ed on the street might have a valid claim if willing to pursue it that far.

But if someone did, Ed would never do it again.

    I don't get your logic.

It's OK to remove them from here, where we are all paid Ten Club members, but they should be allowed
on public sites with global exposure?

I'm not happy with the no cameras/no taping policy, but it's Ed's choice.

My Logic ( which i really dont think i have any ) is that i dont think Ed or any of the members(pearl jam) have a say at all about these vids or pics, or songs being on sites like youtube or whatever else. I think it is tenclub. I was at both albany shows and people were flashin away and recording all night. Security didn't do jack, Eddie was never perturbed by it, especially when we all rushed stage during Hard Sun and eddie was slappin 5 with everyone and flashes from cameras everywhere. I get the whole General public thing, very good point, but last leg of solo tour there were no restrictions on cameras or anything and all those vids are gone? Eddie definately knows cameras and taping is going on throughout the audience every show and so does his staff...They dont care, we are all there for eddie and the experience, the rarities, the stories, its unreal. Some of the most exciting times of my life( always will be). Maybe if they would do the reverse and allow cameras for us paying customers and still pull the stuff from youtube everyone would be a bit more pleased( as if Eddie wasn't enough ). I mean, the bootlegs and all are great,i have them ALL. But To have a lil something all your own( 10 mins. of grainy eddie vid) would be extra special, but I respected what it stated on my ticket and didnt sneak anything into the shows, and those that did.... Ahgghh lucky bastards. Well, ya get my point... i'm fkn JEALOUS. Anyone wit some vids from Albany 1 and 2 please send message. Oh, I just wrote a tiny little white letter "r" on my backspace key and then pressed it a thousand times to make sure it wouldn't "FADE AWAY" so i actually wrote this twice.
