Anyone listen to them? I'm not really into the whole hip-hop thing, but I have to say this album is really good. I found it [Jurassic 5 EP] sitting on my computer [not sure how it got there?] and decided to listen to it on my way home from work. It's been almost all I've listened to the past few days. Especially the song Lesson 6: The Lecture, just so strange and crazy, but catchy as hell.

What are the lyrics like? Is it typical mainstream hip-hop fare, or is is actually somewhat intelligent?
    Thanks EPOTTSIII!

when I was all about hip hop, jurassic was one of my favorite groups.

Their lyrics are conscious. They are intelligent, and socially relevant.

They have a very old school sound. I dont think they are a group anymore. But they have 3 albums I think, and all are worth buying.

    sample lyrics:

Yo, I'm the first candidate to hate
Had to beat on the drum to communicate
For what was to come to those who were hung
They would decapitate the tongue if you would mention the word (Freedom)

Got people screamin' free Mumia Jamal
But two out of three of ya'll will probably be at the mall
I'm heated wit ya'll, been defeated before
And complete an unsolved when the word freedom's involved

Yo, my forefathers hung in trees to be free (Rest in peace)
Got rid of slavery but kept the penitentiary
And now freedom got a shotgun and shells wit cha name
Release the hot ones and let freedom ring

I'm not a huge hip-hop fan but I love J5... they have an old school feel and are pretty easy to listen to.

Other hip-hop I found myself being into over the years:

Aesop Rock (really most stuff from Def Jux record label)
    Dr. Octagon
    MF Doom
    Tribe Called Quest
    Wu-Tang Clan
    The Roots
    De La Soul
    Mos Def
    Atmosphere
    Black Star
    Pharoahe Monch

I rarely listen to it but there is some good hip-hop out there if you look hard enough.
