No PJ at ACL - No joke

I'm off to bed to cry myself to sleep. Discuss amongst yourselves. Though I'm pretty excited about John Fogerty and David Byrne. Seen the Foos and Beck before. Whatever, it's sleep time.

    I can see the Foo Fighters anytime. Hell, they were just here a couple of months ago. That is a seriously weak lineup.

    I highly doubt PJ will be there, but . . .if nothing else is announced, this is a SERIOUSLY weak lineup. The best festival this year (at least to me) look to be Outside Lands in San Francisco - - Radiohead, Tom Petty, Jack Johnson, Beck, Ben Harper, Wilco, . . . sure, Lolla has Radiohead, NIN, and RATM, but the middle and lower-tier acts seem not quite up to par with last year . . .just my opinion.

    Exactly. I swear I've seen the Black Crowes and Wilco both play Texas 8 or 9 times each since Pearl Jam last played here.

    I agree about Lolla, I was ready to go but all the second tier is weak, like where are the ted Leos and Hold steadys like last year I mean I guess Wilco is cool enough but they come here like every year, anyways I have no idea what ACL is but if it's in texasi I'm not going anyways

    It's official, no PJ. The headliners are fairly weak compared to other years but the middle tiers are pretty damn good. I guess I wont throw my three day passes away...lol.

    weak as in you don't like any of the other bands...or weak as in you don't know many of the other bands?

    Yep there it is, direct from the site. I hope that Dallas date is still true though, since Smirnoff or superpages.com center printed it on their list, I still have a little glimmer of hope left. All of pj's band friends came through Texas, and as of tonight, I finally get to add Bruce Springsteen to my concert resume'. What a bad ass show! I finally get the obsession with Bruce's shows now. It was fantastic. The version of "Atlantic city", and "Because the night" made it worth going alone. "Atlantic City" was done full band (as I didn't recognize it at first) BUT the emotion Bruce displayed was priceless.
    Anyway, back to the original discussion, Well, if Pearl jam isn't going to play here, that's a crying shame, However Still some great bands on that list.

    thats a really solid lineup! nothing to sneeze at...

    hopefully ill be able to make the trip down there for that

    i understand that TX is hungry for a PJ show but the festival experience is not ideal for them IMO... had a great time at lolla dont get me wrong... but im so damn obsessed that i dont want a looming PJ show to distract me from all the other great acts of the weekend...

    for those definitely going, have a great time! and dont let the no PJ get you down!

    im bummed no pj.

    but the lineup is solid. i dont know about Foo closing it out, but there are enough bands to keep it interesting. there are also a lot of really good bands that would not get major notice at other festivals. which is one thing austin prides itself on. giving small bands a chance.

    plus i really am glad i get to see stars, teagan and sara.

    in addition to wishing for pj i woulda loved to see death cab or snow patrol.

    i didnt expect pj to play because i remember this exact stuff happening last year. and like i said, i know a few years back there was a major promoter in austin that had was a major dickhead and pj ended up not doing a show in austin that was all but locked up.

    my only hope now is they play dallas and the tix go on sale while i am not on rotation at the hospital. because some patient is going to be seriously pissed when i leave him to go buy tix :)

    Guess there's no reason for me to be going to Texas anytime soon.

    I think this is bad news for anyone counting on that pending Dallas show. If they were gonna be doing it, they'd be doing ACL as well.

    I know. It sucks. I hope that pj show in Dallas goes down considering they are on the venues 2008 shows roster, but at this point, I hope for the best and aim for the worst. I wouldn't mind traveling to see PJ, I just don't have the funds on an under 8 dollar an hour job. Oh well, if PJ wanted our money they'd come down here and get it. All their band friends toured here. Oh well fuck it, if the band comes here, I will attend and have a great time, if they hate us, and don't come here, well that's just the way it is.

    Really really not happy right now. Every other band and singer in the world can make it down here. What gives?? Really disappointed.

    I guess I'll enjoy my Boston trip because it looks like the last time I'll be seeing them. Can't keep traveling to shows.

    I'm really not surprised. ACL was a stretch at best. When Kat said that the June tour were the only shows that pretty much confirmed no ACL. I really don't see that Dallas date in September happening now either. So glad I'm going to FL to see both WPB and Tampa.
