Silenced...

Going under the knife next week for some throat/nose work, and won't be able to talk/use my voice for a while. I just had laryngitis for the first time in April, and as odd as that was, it won't hold a candle to this. Won't be fun. Here's to good drugs!!!

Anyone ever go through this???

    Just had the nose fixed.....first three or four nights were rough....sleeping sitting up and breathing completely through my mouth..the removal of the packing was kinda gross, but I've seen worse. Rest is the key....sit back and enjoy, the best that you can, the rest.

    Had my thyroid taken out several years ago. Could still whisper--took a good month to get my voice back.

    Funnily enough, there was no pain with that surgery.

    Had my tonsils and adenoids out when I was younger, and then later had a deviated septum... not big on breathing through my mouth, gets dry really quick...

    never been thru anything even remotely similar, nor anyone in my immediate family/friends....so all i can say is GOOD LUCK! wish you the best for a speedy recovery! :)

    yea i don't plan on doing much for a week...bathroom, jello, and the remote control. it'll scare the hell outta the kids though. i just don't want to be walking around like Anthony Hopkins in 'Legends of the Fall' with a damn blackboard and chalk!

    good wishes for a very fast recovery.
    aside from the tonsils out as a kid, i've never NOT been able to use my voice.
    i did a day of silence thing voluntarily for STAND, an organization at my uni to end hatred. it was very, very hard to not talk, even though i still had the option of talking
    my advice,
    get a little whiteboard to write stuff on. less chalk dust to make you sneeze and mess up the nose work.
    will make it MUCH easier on you so you dont strain anything trying to communicate.
