So I had an idea, and hopefully this spreads to the full Pearl Jam tour as well. Many people go to new cities for shows. So why don't the locals give them advice, on places to stay, things to do, where to park?

So My guide to Baltimore:
sections covered, to do, eating, drinking, parking (probably the biggest one)

Fells Point, Canton, and Federal Hill are not covered here, because they are a longer walk to the lyric and well they mostly just have bars/residential areas. I can cover them if someone wants.

The lyric is located in Mount Vernon, so when you see "Mount Vernon" referenced in this post it means you are pretty close to the lyric where the show is being held.

To Do: If you are in town for the weekend I recommend the touristy stuff. The Baltimore Aquarium located in the inner harbor is pretty nice, though somewhat pricey ($25 or so a person) If you're looking for something cheaper I recommend simply walking around the inner harbor, sitting around and enjoying the weather.

If you choose to stay close to the lyric from the start, then mount vernon is really pretty as well. I recommend walking along the main street(North Charles st) it is better to walk south(if you start near N charles and mount royal) rather then north as you can pass by a monument and lots of nice places for food/beer.

To Eat/Drink: The inner harbor area has a lot of places to eat. If you are looking for an expensive but great meal check out Roys Baltimore. It's Hawaiian fusion food, really great stuff. There are also lots of cheaper sandwich places. Basically inner harbor area is full of random eats that are chains. Very touristy area.

If you are in Mount Vernon there are lots of bars and food to be had. I HIGHLY recommend "The Brewers Art" excellent food and great beer. Lots of good bottles, interesting beer on tap. The basement is more of a dungeon feel, upstairs is up scalish.(You will likely find me here at some point on sunday and monday)

A block down are two sushi places. Aloha sushi, a low key sushi bar, tasty sushi and quiet. A block farther down is XS a sushi place that is typically louder and is open LATE like 2am. XS has DJ's spin at night.

There are many other places, but I frequently visit XS, aloha, and Brewers Art(very good garlic fries mmmm.)

To Park: Ah yes, Baltimore parking, there are many areas you do not want to park :) inner harbor has many garages but make sure they do not lock down by a certain time.

I will let you all in on my secret to parking in the Mount Vernon area since I go there very often. Parking on Sunday will not be a problem, just read the signs and you are fine. Parking on Monday evening can be very BAD. So where do you park? I recommend heading up north Calvert and parking right after mount royal avenue. you can park on this bridge and there is always parking here. NOTE: DO NOT GO EAST OF CALVERT! (Baltimore is patchy and east of calvert becomes bad fast.) This is like 4 blocks from the Lyric. You can also do the same on St Paul st. Making it like a 3 block walk to the lyric.

This is by no means a complete guide, and there are tons of things to do/see/eat/drink in Baltimore. Parking can also fluctuate, but if you're having problems finding some try my tip, it's never failed me.

For more ideas on what to do and where to eat and drink check out http://www.yelp.com/baltimore
Also there is a nice record store in fells point called Sound Garden, if you have time check it out. Eddie probably will.

See you all on sunday/monday!

Good idea. I had thought about this as well, particularly when PJ was on tour in 06 that it would be helpful for them to know about FAMILY places in particular, for their wives to bring their children, as well as the band... since traveling for so long with kids should be a vacation for the kids at least.

If EV comes to Richmond, VA I'll be glad to do so. :)

The Sound Garden has a nice selection of Vinyl. Also nice used CD's I picked up some PJ bootlegs in the used section a few weeks ago.

The Sounds Garden is located in Fells point. About a 20 min walk from the inner harbor, or you can just drive there.

There is another vinyl shop in fells point as well.. I don't remember the name though, I just remember I walked down some alley or something to get to it. I'll ask my friends and see if they remember the name of it.

What are the nice retail streets in Baltimore? I'm staying at the Radisson Inner Harbor and I like to walk around areas that have art galleries and other nice businesses and restaurants. For parking with the hotel near the Inner Harbor, does it make sense to park in Mt Vernon? Is Mt Vernon walking distance to the Inner Harbor? Arriving Sunday afternoon and leaving Monday afternoon at the latest.

If you want lots of little shops I recommend heading to fells point, there are little shops, I believe a small art gallery, the vinyl store is there, and plenty of food and bars. It's also pretty. Problem is you are staying about a 30 min walk away from fells point, so it depends if you're up for a lot of walking.

As far as walking from your hotel to the lyric.. Well the walk to the Lyric will be fine, north charles has tons of shops as well and bars/food. It's a nice walk. However.. you probably don't want to walk around at night after the show. If you are with a group you should be fine, but walking alone you might feel a little uneasy, though North Charles is a relatively busy street.

Unfortunately Baltimore is not the most walkable city, so getting around between fells point and Mount Vernon can be a pain in the butt.

I plan on staying around the lyric after the show to see if I can catch eddie on his way out, if you plan on doing the same I can give you a lift to your hotel, this goes for whoever needs a ride on sunday.

Is the back of the Lyric closed off or do we have a chance of hanging near the bus?

The area behind the Lyric is indeed closed off, so odds are slim. The Lyric has a huge garage at the front of it, so I assume the bus is going in there. There are 2 areas behind the lyric, however both are locked off.

I'll be in Mount vernon (around the lyric) from about 1pm If anyone is interested in hanging out with me, shoot me a pm and I'll give you my number.

Also by "the hotel" I was referring to any hotel in the inner harbor area. Basically I live just south of the city so sometime after the show.. maybe 1am-ish or so I'll be heading back home, so if someone walked to the venue and doesnt want to brave the city streets of baltimore(I wouldn't) I can give you a lift to your hotel.

-Can you tell I'm excited about tomorrow night!!!
