OK to walk up toward stage during encore in Albany?

edited June 2009 in Given To Fly (live)
Hi all. My wife and I had a blast last night at the Palace in Albany! We were up in the balcony and saw a lot of folks walk up toward the stage during the encore, also read about people doing that on here this morning. So tonight we're down in LC orchestra, much closer, and we were wondering if it's cool to walk up to the stage during the encore--just to catch a closer glimpse of Eddie and rock out closer to the stage during the encore. I've done this at plenty of shows over the years but wasn't sure if the ushers/staff at the Palace would give us a problem if we walked up that way.

We don't plan on being drunk or running up there like lunatics ;-) Just casually walking up to enjoy the encore with everyone closer to the stage. Thanks!

If it's during the encore, what's the worst that could happen. They ask you to go back to your seats...Even if they throw you out you would only miss like 5 mins of the show :)

Not sure how it worked in Albany - last few eV shows I have attended was what I would call a "controlled surge" - ushers allowed people in first 5 rows or so to get up and rush the stage as Ed came out to play Hard Sun. Everyone behind that point coming down the aisle were turned away (at least where the ushers were successful).

Interesting. So we may be turned back if it follows that pattern. I figure it's worth a shot; I highly doubt they'd kick us out, just turn us back. I've never tried it at the Palace before (been to a handful of shows there), but I saw the Pretenders there not long ago and noticed some crazy drunkards running toward the stage. They were of course turned back! But we'll just be walking up, and we don't need to be right at the foot of the stage, we'd just like to stand off on the side maybe, behind the folks who are already up there. Just to catch the encore action a bit closer.

Anyone on here try this last night? If so, how'd it go? Thanks!

How far back were you? We'll be in orchestra row R, so we're not already right up by the stage.

I'm just so psyched for tonight!! Last night was incredible and we were in the balcony so Ed was was pretty far, so just being down in the orchestra will be killer.
  • Another question about tonight's show in Albany: what time do you think they do soundcheck?
