saw flashes going off at various times throughout the show, but much less than last summer. they weren't specifically looking for them on the way in, but there was a LARGE sign that said photography inside the theatre was prohibited. I think most people were respectful.

no issue with camera phones being brought in, but I did not use mine.

I suspect this will be the situation at most of the venues the rest of the tour.

At the beginning I saw security tell a few people around me put the camera phones away, but they didn't get kicked out. That was the last I saw of him or any security. Several people snuck phone shots throughout. During Hard Sun the whole place whipped them out.

I was checking my email on my phone while I was waiting for Liam to go on and a security guard asked me to turn it off for the rest of the night.

But, like nathanastin said, during Hard Sun everybody had their phones out.

Like others have said, camera phones were allowed in but security was asking people to put them away during the show. Not too many flashes until the end. I saw one guy get kicked out in between Liam and before Ed came on stage...not sure if he was recording.

I was surprised how strictly it was enforced last night. They searched my bag for camera, which was normal, but then also saw security stop several people from taking pictures with their phones and then I saw a couple of people get taken out. Not sure why they were kicked out vs. just asked to stop. It wasn't until all the lights were on at the end that they seemed to allow the cameras.

I was at Philly 1 and 2. Very different experiences with cameras for me at least. The first night I walked in, no one searched my bag or anything. It was a little strange. The second night they searched my bag and saw my GPS in there. The guy asked me what it was. I told him it was a GPS. He asked if it took pictures. I laughed a little and said no. He asked what it did. I told him it got me here tonight. He said it was okay as long as it didn't take pictures. My sister in law got told not to take pictures with her cell phone. There were people around me taking pictures with cameras and no one said anything to them. I guess it depends which security guard/usher you deal with.

this is a very funny question!

Are you sitting at home, thinking of ways to stuff your camera down your pants?

I was 6th row in albany and people were taking pictures... but let me tell you something I saw that annoyed the hell out of me...

There was a rather heavy set couple in front of us and they were telling the security on pretty much anyone around them who was doing something naughty... whether it be pictures, recording, smoking, etc... at one point after the encore started they told on people who moved up a bit or moved their seats around or something i didn't understand it but it was really obnoxious and kind of distracting at times. They also counted to 3 at one point and then yelled out a song name together... and that seemed kind of hypocritical since they were trying to keep the peace lol...

I was Left Orch Row OO Philly2 , on the outside aisle beside the walkway.
The security was on you like white on rice any sight of little electric LCD screens- be it phone or cellphones.

Naturally, if i try and am warned , the gig is up- not worth getting the boot for.

    enjoy the show (s)

I echo the "tread carefully" sentiment. I buried a camera in my bag (being a girl with an unnecessarily large bag helps) and had a nicer security guard than most entering, as 10c'ers went through a separate entrance in Philadelphia. He was worried about my iphone camera which, as I explained to him, is a piece of shit--so he said fine, but don't take pictures. but the second we were inside, the site of ANY lcd screen got you a security guard with a flashlight and a pretty no bullshit approach. people were told to stop texting. the few clips I did try to take were with video--never flash, but they saw the LCD picture of the stage and issued a final "you're out of it happens once more" ultimatum. it was, of course, then a free for all during hard sun.

last leg's Boston opera house they didn't even look at bags or harass anyone taking pictures. I can understand if people were taking pictures with flash--it's shitty for those around you and frankly makes me suck air thru my teeth, nervous Ed will get pissed off.

I am supposing the directive from the EV camp is no cameras, no pictures and it's up to the venue staff to choose how militant to be.

That's what I thought too for Philly 2 but my photographic free-for-all with my friend didn't last long.

I went to both shows with a female friend of mine and for Philly 1, we figured we'd not chance it and just see how security was. Well that night they just let us go, they didn't say or do anything. Night two was a different story though.

Night two I was with two women, both of which had big purses. One of them didn't have a camera so it wasn't an issue for her. The other one did, and she managed to get through undiscovered after a little searching, probing and questioning. I was in between them and was wearing a sport coat with a camera inside one of the inner pockets and was totally ignored :D. After we got in, we waited (for the most part) until the lights came up for Hard Sun to start going photo-crazy. Well because we were in the far right section, we were pretty close to security, so both my friend and I got a tap on the shoulder and was told (nicely) to please put the cameras away. I only got two good shots before I had to stop but my friend got a dozen or so. I don't get how or why they would wait until the last song to start enforcing the rule. I'm not complaining though, because rules are rules and I was breakin' em, so I don't have a leg to stand on.

just to be clear - they took the camera? or the memory card? out of curiousity, how did they do it - did they physically take it out of your hand?

I was in Blaitmore both nights in the 3rd row. They were putting the flash light on people who where takng pictures. One girl in the second row looked like she was begging the guy not to throw her out after he flashed her and came over and was talking to her.

My bag wasn't searched night one but it was night 2. I didn't attemt to take a picture as I didn't want to loose my blackberry and or get kicked out.

Night 2 during big hard sun I was in the front right up against the stage. I had my friend take a picture with my camera and the security guard who I was standing next to and kind of knew from night one pointed at him and shook his head. Mu friend pointed to me and I just put it in my pocket.

While I was standing in the front another secuirty guard walked up with to peolpe and asked where to put there cameras that he had just confenscatted. The people where begging for there stuff back. They where escorted away.

I saw security physically take a camera out of a guys hand after they warned the guy and then the guy took another picture. I thought that there was going to be an altercation, but it didn't happen. I don't know where things went from there.

I went to 2nd night of B'more. I read the 10club's email and I knew no cameras were allowed. there was no way I was going to take a pic and I got near the front for Hard Sun. A female security guard looked so angry but she kept quiet. Her nostrils were flaring, she looked like a bull ready to attack. I have a new cell phone with a camera in it, but I behaved....it was hard to be that close to Ed and not take a pic, but I have many from VA Beach, 2nd row last year.

Hmm... that makes sense about the texting part.

If hubby gets in Ryman tonight, he was going to text me to keep me company as each song goes on.... but it certainly is not worth getting him the boot.

He wouldn't take pictures or be on the phone at all. He turned off his cell phone the entire time last night at Ryman.

I'd have to tell him if the security guard gives him a warning for even texting me, don't do it anymore.

I'd just be patient till he gets back... what's four more hours? :P

I don't want him to get in trouble for that... I know a guy sitting behind me last night who took pictures and I politely told him that it wasn't cool. Of course he didn't care. :P

wow. Hearing all these stories about people having their phones taken (not just the memory card, but the whole phone) is really troubling to me. I disappointed that this is what Ed wants happening at his shows.

fyi - pics were NOT allowed last year either. they may not have taken away cameras and many did get away with it....but 10c specifically said "no pictures" for ed solo. pj is always an entirely different animal. that said, baltimore 2....didn't even open my bag at security. all i was asked about was my poster tube. opened the end, saw nothing was in it - yet - let me bring it in. so i could've easily brought a camera, but i didn't. i wouldn't have taken pics - tho i saw many who did - but i would've liked to have had it with me for the pre-party. eh well. funny too, i never, ever even considered taking a camera to a gig until pj, and it is a blessing and a curse. i do like to take pics (i was a photo major afterall ;)) but it does definitely take away some from the *experience* of the music. most of the time my seats are rather shit so i don't bother...but the few times i was quite close, it was awesome to snap a few shots....but yea......the overall experience is so much more important.
    Stay with me...
