So, I drove down to Oceanside on Friday. WTF is with all that traffic on the I-15, out by Corona?? Where are they coming from? Where are they going?

Five lanes of gridlock. I could not take it!

Thank God the section of I-15 (Wasatch Valley in Utah) that I commute on is never that congested. That kind of traffic would stir up some serious madness in my brain!

Two things in your post have significance to me...one being I-15, and two being Corona, which is where the headquarters for the company that I work for is (that company being Watson Pharmaceuticals).

  • I knew a guy that drove that 6 days a week. I can't believe he did it for nearly two years.

He drove from out by Elsinore to Irvine every day. At first he didn't pay the toll roads so it was I-15 to the 91 to the 55 to the 5 and back. Some days he'd take Ortega Highway as well, but that can be just as bad or worse if you get caught up on that through the pass.

He finally started taking the toll road which saved a little bit of time, and then he finally did the smart thing and moved.

Holey moley, that's insane. Yeah, that's part of the reason I continue to rent. If I need out and need to move quickly I do it. I'd much rather hassle with the move to live close to work, rather than constantly drive our freeways on a daily basis.

When I was younger my dad had a co-worker and where they worked their schedule was 13 nights on 1 night off. And he drove from Moreno Valley to Anaheim 9 of those days and then Moreno Valley to Torrance 4 of those days. Ugh. Insane. My brother in law said a guy joined his job a few years back on a construction project in Norwalk that lasted six months and a dude drove from Victorville.

I can't believe some of the places people come from in SoCal to work.

I'm there a lot of work (unfortunately) and when someone asks me "So, how long does it take to get to ____?"

The answer I came up with that works every time...

    "Fucking forever!"

I then follow that by "I hate SoCal!"
  • I live right near where the 405 (aka World's Longest Parking Lot) and 10 meet. It takes me at least 15 minutes to drive 4 miles to UCLA!
I'll wait for an angel, but won't hold my breath
