are there any bars near the tower theater?

can i get beer at the tower theater?

i understand that Upper Darby PA is a rough neighborhood -- how is parking around the tower theater? Lots vs Street parking -- which is safer?

can we tailgate at a parking lot?

how is blue route traffic around the upper darby exit? (during the rush hour)

any thing else would also be helpful

thanks

Yes, 1 (Waterford Inn, on Ludlow beside the venue)

    Yes

Lots are safer, though I never had a problem at a meter. (Just hide valuables/radio/etc.)

    No

Rush hour traffic is kind of bad. Add a half hour. Or better yet take the subway (septa.org).

Do yourself a favor and park in the lot, no tailgating, and there are no "good" bars near the Tower, contrary to the sentiments I have been reading...Local 44 is relatively close and has a GREAT Beer selection if you are into Craft Beers. http://www.local44beerbar.com/

Oh, and I forgot, Dock Street! Oy! GREAT FOOD, GREAT BEER. http://www.dockstreetbeer.com/
Their Pizza is awesome, and I have not had bad food there at all....THAT should be the Meet-up spot in Philly, people!!!! REALLY.

Local 44 and Dock Street mean taking cars or buses to the venue.

i live in pottsville pa so septa in not an option

i know when i head to the jersey shore or the linc/spectrum area -- traffic gets kinda busy around certain exit on the blue route during rush hour

so when does evening traffic start to get heavy on the blue route? (i'll be coming from the NE exten of the pa turnpike)

Can you drink beer in your seat? We were not allowed to bring beer to our seats at the NJPAC in Newark?
What time do 10c's need to be there to get there tix?
    Camden - 5/28/06; Camden - 6/20/08; MSG - 6/25/08; Newark - (Ed Solo) 8/7/08; Philly - (Ed Solo) 6/12/09; Philly - 10/30/09; Philly - 10/31/09; Newark - 5/18/10; MSG - 5/20/10; MSG - 5/21/10

I've been able to do so at other Tower shows, yes.

476 traffic sucks at that time.... As does 95.... Currently in the mess.

And as others have said, the lot is the best bet.

I've always been able to drink in my seat, they even have 'waiters' that'll bring your drinks at some shows, before the main act starts.

I'm looking to trade a Friday Ticket for a Thursday ticket.
    Please, inquire within.
Nothing outside of Loge or Lower Orchs, please.
( before you blowhards start going off my ticket is in the left orchestra )

    thanks.

On Friday it is earlier than this...especially if the phils are home. If you wait until 5 you will be bumper to bumper all the way to Upper Darby...not good times

Mad Mex is a great Tex-Mex-style place on the eastern border of Penn's campus (in a kind of alley b/w 34th and 36th [no 35th Street exists there] and Chestnut and Walnut streets). www.madmex.com. I have been there more than 200 times in the past four years. You can't go wrong with the fire-roasted tomato chipotle salsa and chicken tacos with a side of southwestern wild sauce. Yum. I'm going to try to go with my cousin before the show. The place is a two-minute walk from the subway stop at 34th and Market streets. The subway will drop you off right at the venue.

I know at the Black Crowes and a few other shows I've seen there, they have waitresses taking orders and bringing you beers so you don't have to leave your seat. I don't think that will happen next week though. ;)

I saw Neil Young in 07 and no food or drink was allowed in the theatre because he was running video for a dvd. Every other show I was at there was drinking in your seat. Bathrooms are a little pain. there is one in the basement and one in the balcaney. Traffic is always a mess imo. rt 422 is getting worked one and 476 and 95 are a mess. As far as bars go the waterford is where it's at for a tower show that's where i'll be i'm gettin the tickets from 10c and my cousin is saving a table at the waterford for us. See you guys there. I'm an idiot...I gave my phils tickets to my wife for the home game vs the Red Sox on Friday. This means if you are driving into Philly make sure you leave early (especially if you are picking up 10 club tix)

Phils home game + shore traffic on Fridays = traffic nightmare
