What do people make of this latest DMB?

Listened to it through 2 or 3 times now and it's great IMO, really easy to listen to and get immersed in like most DMB is really.

Lying In The Hands of God has to be my favourite at the moment. Also the artwork is cool. Any takers? :?:

I saw an ad for it selling for $9.99 at Target. I'll have to get it there and while I'm at it pick up some scented candles and Rachel Ray brand olive oil. :D

Seriously though, I've seen a lot of great reviews. DMB was one of my top three or four favorite bands in the mid to late 90's. They've tumbled down their list with their newer stuff but I'm really excited about this new album.

I've given it a few listens and I like it enough for a DMB release. Never been a huge fan.

My favorite was Busted Stuff. He have anything else similar to that?

Definately awesome. non DMB fans should give it a listen. its not overhyped at all, its seriously a fucking great album.

Squirm and Time Bomb are both just epic, you have to like those. Fan or not.

Shake me like a monkey and Alligator pie have nice funky grooves, but Alligator is better. Everything else is atleast good.

I also LOVE the intro, and for anyone doubting the album based on the single, screw it. The single is porbably my least favorite song on the album.

i gotta say i'm not a big dmb fan, but i listened to the hype and decided to go into this one with an open mind and give it a shot. it's definitely better than anything they've done since before these crowded streets, but that's not saying much. i honestly almost threw it out my car window by the time i got through half of 'shake me like a monkey', but decided to just skip the track instead. i'll agree with the o.p. that said 'lyin in the hands of god' is the best track. it's a nice song, kinda long and drawn out for no apparent reason, but i guess that's the dmb way. anyway, i keep hearing people pushing this album, like "hey, i know you hate dmb, but this album is great, give it a shot, even if you don't like their other stuff....." let me say, that's not the case. if you like dmb, you'll love this album. if you're not a fan, this will not change your opinion. just a bunch of forgettable songs that they can structure some nice jam sessions around. don't waste your money unless you already know what you're getting into.

The new album is hands down fantastic. They really capture that old sounds, but still have Tim Reynolds rocking it; it's a really nice mix.

"Why I Am" and "Dive In" are probably two of my favorites. But the album seriously does rock.

I am a little dissapointed, though, that "Shotgun" and "Sister" didn't make it. Oh well, they'll still be good live staples.

It would've been nice if those 4 bonus songs were released without having to spend $50 on that big old set. I listened to the album 3 times yesterday and thought it was fine...I certainly liked it loads more than Stand Up. But a previous poster mentioned the songs as "forgettable", and, well, at this point today I don't really remember much of the album so I guess that person is correct. I do remember liking Squirm. And I'm sure I'll put this into the rotation at which point I'll start liking it based on familiarity rather than quality.

Eddie: I don't know whose idea it was but it was turned down.
  • Good album! Lying In The Hands of God is probably my fav track at the moment too

Used to be pretty big into DMB, but it kinda wore off the past few years. But I might be back after listening to this album a few times. I'm really digging it....might even go check them out this summer at alpine valley. DMB shows are always a great time.
