re: Love Boat Captain
I'm pretty sure a boat doesn't have reins, not even a love boat. I'm also pretty sure if Eddie suddenly decided to sing "wheel" instead of "reins" no one would be upset.

I actually like that verse.
Did anyone think that NOT saying "2012 watch it burn in a fire" at all last year was a real missed opportunity?? I was really looking forward to it in Atlanta. I mean why say 2010? That's so 2 years ago.0 -

Me too. I think it's a great, well thought out line.
Nothing comes close to being as bad as the Incubus-esque lyrics in Unthought Known. "Gems and rhinestones"
Inside Job is another, but you can tell they're really heartfelt and honest and it was McC's first crack at lyrics, so it's more forgiveable. Just needs to be a little more nuanced is all.0 -
When Eddie uses a double negative! I often sing his lyrics with the correct grammer because it drives me crazy.0

How is it well thought out? It makes no sense...he never mentions a verse!Download the unofficial Pearl Jam Stat Tracker app for iPhone/iPad. It's FREE.

"Trampled moss on your souls"

that's the moss in the aforementioned verse"0 -
I always thought it was 'Trampled marks...' Makes sense now, I guess that IS the moss in the aforementioned verse after all.0
-
how about "that's the moss from the verse with the aforementioned moss"?
if anyone could make it work, it'd be eddie.0 -

I get what the intention is, it just doesn't make any sense.
To have an aforementioned verse, you have to mention a verse. He mentions moss - what he really means to say is "that's the aforementioned moss in the previous verse."Download the unofficial Pearl Jam Stat Tracker app for iPhone/iPad. It's FREE.

It makes perfect sense, and I don't think it breaks any grammar rules. You don't have to say "verse" for it to be aforementioned. Once he sings the verse it becomes aforementioned.0
