i have recently discovered these seeds. the Aztec people have been eating them for the last 3500 years.
says on the label... "the most nutrient rich whole food in the world"

omega-3 than salmon
antioxidants than blueberries (30% more)
fiber than flax seed
calcium than milk
magnesium than broccoli
iron than spinach

"Aztec warriors subsisted on chia seeds during their battles and hunting expeditions, eating as little as a small handfull added into water. it is a high energy food and all you need is water."

"Chia's soluable fiber forms a gel that slows the absorption of sugar/carbohydrates into the blood stream. this makes Chia seeds a low glycemic food."

"may promote cardiovascular and digestive health."

go get yourselves a jar. eat a small handfull downed with a glass of water
some ppl put seeds in water to soak and get the gel around the seeds before drinking down

i can tell a significant difference in how i feel.

my dude told me they cost him $17.00
at the same store i paid $11.00
good deal and you get a full 16 oz

oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

When I planned to run a marathon I was worried about training in the heat, and I looked into dehydration strategies. Articles about chia seeds came up. My goal is to drink a glass of water with chia seeds, which had been soaking up the water for 15 minutes, 2xs/day.

As with any new food, they take a little getting used to.

guess i need to learn to wait the few moments for soaking time
when i do soak them i drink within a couple minutes
    im a dickhead i guess

im taking your advice... soaking for 15 minutes

    they're fun in your mouth
you can feel the gel surrounding the seed

    fun

I put a tablespoon of chia seeds in a glass of water and let it soak for 15 minutes. The texture becomes more jam like. The waiting is suppose to make them easier to digest.

i do this as well as let a small scoop full play around in my mouth.

before i go on my walks i get chia seeds in my mouth.
before i swim i do this too.

pretty much most days one could find chia seeds in my mouth. i throughly enjoy pushing them thru my two front teeth up top my mouth with my tongue.

Thats a great idea... Chia seeds have "no taste" and will not change the taste of food.

I put them in oatmeal. I don't like them in water or juice because they get all jel-like...weird consistency.

They are really good for you.

when the Spaniards invaded south america not only did they destroy the native people, they noticed the native people of S.A. used chia seeds in ceremonies so they destroyed that aspect of the native people of south america's culture too. murder them and take their sacred seeds as well. what a loving people them Spaniards are.

I use them to make granola along with hempseeds (and a variety of other seeds) and raw cacao nibs (another amazing superfood). Yum! Definitely helping me with my running.
Are we getting something out of this all-encompassing trip?
