what I think is that you need to give it a rest.

Mitt Romney ran a horrible campaign. Dreadful.

But that's not the reason he lost.

You can blame Ken Mehlman. Back in 2004, Ken Mehlman was running the campaign of George W Bush. Seeing that Bush was relatively unpopular with likely voters, he put anti-gay measures on the ballots of any state that he thought was in danger. That brought the anti-gay evangelicals to the polls and while they were there, they voted for Bush.

And it worked.

Similar measures helped Republicans win in 2010, but that time they targeted Hispanic people with the "Papers Please" laws meant to make harassing Latinos legal.

And of course in 2002, Muslims and immigrants were all vilified gleefully by Republicans.

This time... well, they had no one left.

He lost because Republicans failed to see that the demographics of the country have changed. It used to be that they could pick a random minority... Muslims, Blacks, Gays, Latinos... every election cycle it was a different one. And one by one, they pissed us all off and we formed bonds between our communities. The GLBT community showed up to protest the "Papers Please" laws and the Black Community has supported the gay community.

And when the War On Women was in full swing this election cycle, we saw how old white men attacked us and saw them doing it to women. They were threatening to legally force women to have "Trans-Vaginal Ultrasounds" and make them carry rape pregnancies and said if they got pregnant then they were sluts that wanted it.

Minorities finally had enough numbers to fight back. And we did.

And THAT is why you lost.

And I'm glad you did.

It's a brave new world. You should pitch your fears and come join it.
