Dallas Marathon Fundraiser for a fellow 10c member
Hi everyone,
This is one of those posts I wish I didn't have to write. Unfortunately, we lost one of our best friends a few months back. He was training for the Dallas BMW Marathon with his running group and suddenly collapsed and passed away. He was one of the healthiest people we knew and it has left all of us shocked and saddened by his passing. He leaves behind an amazing wife and a newborn baby girl.
We all met because of Pearl Jam and we all agree that he was one of the best friends that any of us had ever had. We'd meet up, spin vinyl, take trips to the lake and just hang out. Most of the time we wouldn't even talk about PJ, but we were grateful that the band brought us all together. He is sorely missed by all that knew him.
When we all gathered in Dallas for the funeral service, the idea came up that we should all run the marathon that he was training for in his honor. We've all been training for either the 10k or half-marathon ever since. All of us are flying/driving to Dallas in early December for the race to remember our dear friend, share stories and to celebrate Mike's life.
I just had the thought to start a fundraiser for Mike's family and talked it over with another friend that is running. ALL donations will go to his wife and daughter. I haven't set up a gofundme page yet, but I can provide my paypal info in the time being. If you'd like to donate, please pm me and I will be in touch.

@Kat @Sea -- please let me know if this thread needs to be moved and I apologize if I've posted this in the wrong sub-forum.
Many of you may have known Mike. His board name was @themessenger. He was quick to smile and had amazing air drumming skills. He was a great guy and we all loved him very much. I am a better person for knowing him.
As for who the rest of us are, here's a quick list:
@White Discussion @Flagg @Better Dan @JMo @adusick @mfc2006 @YLed2
I'll be sure to update this thread once the page is up and running.
Make sure those you love know how much you love them. Thanks for reading and thanks for your support! Even if you don't donate, encouraging words are very much appreciated.
We love you, Mike.
And wherever you've gone
And where ever we might go
It don't seem fair
You seem to like it here
Your lights reflected now
Reflected from a far
We were but stones
Your light made us stars
