It seems as if most times, you can get in line maybe an hour or two (three?) before doors and have a great spot. Most of the "line hype" seems to be about "front and center" and European lines.
Three hours before doors, you certainly won't be first in the front, but maybe 3-4 rows back and possibly rail on the sides.
Or not. I'm sure a lot of it varies by city. This tour will probably be different due to limited GA nights and a smaller tour.
But yeah, if you really want up super-close, the night before is a winner.
Presidential Advice from President-Elect Mike McCready: "Are you getting something out of this all encompassing trip?"
If you're not from the city, what's the point in lining up? Go check out the city.

What was the protocol for floor access at Wrigley in 2016 - were there wristbands or a stamp? Were these given to you inside the main gates before you could get to the floor, or as you entered the main gate with your ticket?
It says in the email that you can’t line up for the Wrigley shows before 8am. Did it say something like that last time? How would they enforce that?
City of Chicago & The Cubs put that rule in I’m sure there will be a small security presence there. Regardless,it’s going to be a clusterfuck.

Wristbands were given out AFTER your ticket was scanned.
So there was a wait before you could actually enter the G.A. pit.
