Jumping in late, but don't we give credit to the manager for day to day management and motivation? A great example is how thoroughly Tito outmanaged the Red Sox and the Cubs last year.

I don't think he gets any credit. he could've stayed in L A. and been a puppet. And sure he would be enjoying much more success. But I think it's more satisfying if you have more of your input in a successful team.
I'd love to see these dumbass umps fined for the white wristbands of solidarity. You can't be as douchy as they've been and play the victim card. Compare the complaining in other major sports and they don't have a leg to stand on, especially since pretty much any schmuck off the street can do it.
