start enunciating more (not sure if that's the correct word or not)? I noticed his vocal range was a bit more narrow in Boston. I believe it was post-Backspacer tour.
I don't know. Maybe it started when he started solo touring.
I know what you are saying though, OP. Not a strange question as it actually has something to do with music.
Agreed there's been a change. I do think Ed has gone through a couple different on stage changes. Compare his between song banter on the early boots to now and there's a huge difference in how he sounds as well.

He mumbles like an old man nowadays. Like he's playing everyones senile or drunk grandpa. Haha. Never gets to the point. Funny, but obviously different from the 90's or 00's.
"Mostly I think that people react sensitively because they know you’ve got a point"
Maybe OP is talking about Ed's cadence (?) at the end of a phrase/melody. He embellishes certain vowel sounds, etc. kind of similar to what Tom Petty does.
Yes. Big difference in '09 that can kind of start being heard on the '08 tour. There were also big shifts in his voice between 2003 - 2005, 94 - 95 and 95 - 96. To me, 96 - 2003 is the sweet spot give or take.

Adds an "h" to every vowel
Speaking of Petty, that's one of things I noticed the most on the '06 US tour. Ed started talking just like him. Probably because they were touring together. Glad it didn't last.

Yep, that is correct. Backspace vocals are good though.
Nope, not strange (it's not an aesthetic thing, it's the lead singer's voice). But that was kind of funny, PJfan.
