I read the e-mail, and didn't see any real excitement on the forums, so I had kind of guessed without really looking into the app. Could this be a platform for more shows we don't have down the line? Hope so!
I think it's cool. More access to music is a good thing in my opinion. It's not just the 300+ PJ shows, I think it's all the bands that sell boots through nugs: http://www.nugs.net/app/
I'm not saying it isn't cool. I was hoping for some additional shows, or maybe a featured show not already released officially to roll this new thing out?

I hope not, unless you mean this platform would be an additional option for more of those shows we don't have. If they're making shows available exclusively through the streaming service, that would be a bad decision. I don't like proprietary platforms or formats for digital music. I already have trouble justifying paying for digital music, and then to make it less useful / portable / universally playable by locking it into a specific platform or app and making it exclusive to a streaming service would be the exact opposite direction that they should be going. But I'm not the target demographic for this service anyway. I don't and won't pay for any streaming service. I listen to Spotify and Pandora and endure the ads, but don't find enough value to pay for the premium service. I'd typically rather own physical media and decide how and what I play.

Of course this comes out right after I collect all the boots
Hehehe! Man...
I guessing owning and streaming are two totally different things though. I have Spotify and it feels weird that when my subscription expires I will lose all the music I've "collected" over the past year. But damn, it is so convenient.

I just discovered free Spotify last month and it's nice when I'm in the office, but I don't listen to it anywhere else.
I'm old school. Over the years I've collected all the official boots in flac format. I simply load whatever show I want onto my portable player (or on my home stereo via my streaming box).
It is overpriced but that's not why I wouldn't buy it. I have a huge collection of albums in flac format (probably 4 or 5 hundred albums on top of the pj collection). Mostly from ripping my cd collection over the past 10 years. I can listen to anything I want in cd quality flac. There's no way I'd pay a monthly fee when I have a whole collection I can listen to for free.
I mean it seems like a lot of money to effectively "lease" music. With movies/TV I get it, it makes more sense cuz there's a lot more turnover. PJ Bootlegs come out much less frequently.
There's one thing I was wondering about. If it was offered using the new Nugs app. Nugs have broadcasted many live concerts. Will Nugs broadcast some Pearl Jam show's LIVE via the app?
I have most/all shows in flac, but taking the time to load shows on my phone or iPod is tedious. This provides a different option for 2000 and newer shows. They sound great. Willing to try it and see how much I use it
is see the listed "featured artists"... but do I get access to everything in their catalog or are some artists not included? most notably for me MMJ and Grateful Dead
if I get everything, this seems like a no brainer honestly

I do like access to all the other bands though as I had access to most of the Pearl Jam stuff.
Nice to finally be able to get FLACs of the shows I saw in 2005.

I don't need to have access to every show though so...it's not something I'll be signing up for.
For me, this is almost too much of a good thing!
