    98=best tour of their history

    My parents went to a show in East Rutherford in '98 but my mom made my dad leave early, oh what I would have done to be at that show.

    I feel Ed's voice was at it's finest the 96-98' era. Or at least my favorite. Of course the pop of the of the early 90's is unmatched as well. What's great is Ed has had a have a distinctive different sound from each era throughout their career.

    Mr. Pickles!! lol.

    I loved the '98 tour. It was my first real PJ tour, saw Missoula, Vancouver and Seattle II. There was a crazy awesome energy vibe. The band was in that golden age where they had both experience and youth (like sports players in their late 20's/early 30s). I guess the fans were too :)

    That Missoula 98 show was special. Outdoor university football stadium for the hometown crowd. They always deliver here. Hadn't been done before in that stadium, they worked so hard to make that happen.

    It's a shame Live on 2 Legs isn't a double album! Why they didn't release a full double is beyond me! What a tour!

    '98 was my first live PJ experience and I was HOOKED. Obviously, I'm still here. And I listened to LO2L a million times, on cassette tape. :).

    I was at that. It was indeed a brilliant show! Is your dad a huge fan? Does he use that "you made me leave a "PJ in their Prime" show early, so you owe me" whenever they disagree? ;)

    That's awesome, love the way you put that! I saw 6 shows on it, including MSG2. Yes, it felt like everyone was in a prime, even if there were other "primes" as well, for both band and fans.

    Only line up better than that was when Tenacious D opened for Spinal Tap. Still crying that I missed that!

    My first show...first show of the OZ leg.

    Long Road > DTE > Animal > Hail Hail > Dissident > Even Flow....

    Thought I'd died and gone to heaven!!!

    The Ed growl at the start of DTE and the subsequent elevation off the mosh pit was something to behold!

    PJ doesn't really do many N.A. full on GA shows anymore, but I went to the Calgary '09 show, which was sort of a festival, except it was a multiday festival of crappy bands, and somehow PJ headlined it, so everyone tried to show up an hour before PJ's set..

    Anyways it was full on GA and it made me feel nostalgic. The energy was off the charts, the mosh pit was crazy. It reminded me of Seattle '98 where the whole stadium was GA so the floor was packed which made the pit big and crazy. I've gotten older and not really a moshing fan anymore, but the energy people had back in those days was mental. I enjoyed the shit out of the Calgary '09 show because it reminded me of the earliest PJ show's I'd been to.

    The modern PJ experience (in North America) more reminds be of seeing Springsteen or U2 where there's GA floor tickets but everyone (ok most everyone) is tactful, considerate, stakes out a place, and rocks out to the show. You don't really have that pits and the crazyness of concerts in the 90s.

    Sometimes it's nice to go back to the disorganized chaos of the 90s shows. Actually Seattle II really stands out to me (probably because the whole venue was GA which is pretty rare). Missoula was hybrid, had seated seats with GA floor (Which is the normal way to do it). That was an f'ing good show but a much more chill vibe.
