I saw an ad in the paper yesterday.. I am SICK and mother fucking tired if doing jobs I hate, in order to pay my bills! I am going to the Penrose event center this morning.. I'm throwing my hat in the ring for the Barn Manager position! Fuck hating life!! I may not get the job, but at least I can't say I didn't try! God how sweet would it be to wake every morning to the smell of a full barn!??! I MISS being around horses. I miss the smell, I miss the sounds.. I just miss that life!! I at least have to try!

Lol at least SOMEBODY understands!! Most people look at me like I'm crazy! Hahahaha! Just dropped off my resume! Hope to hear something back soon! And.. Suprisingly, I made it out without hugging any horses!! But I did pet a couple as I walked to the office! Hopefully I don't stink too bad for my next set of interviews! Now.. I wait..

I've never been to a funeral before, (the actual service, not the reception thingie) are there usually a lot of people there? what is it like? I'm nervous...
Don't be nervous. Is it a church service? They can last 1- 1 1/2 hrs, depending.
No, he wasn't happy with the church, so not in church. I just know there will be a service, with a program, my BIL and SIL will speak, we're expecting 200. We had to move the date so more family could make it.

Everyone does it differently. Not sure if you're attending the burial or the wake. The wake is usually a bunch of people telling old stories and stepping out to the pub next door since it's illegal to drink in funeral homes. And now you'll notice there's always a pub within a block of a funeral home. The burial service is more solemn, people are usually standing or sitting during the speech then they watch the casket lowered and usually family will take turns covering with dirt.
At my dad's service the wake was really crowded (the room we got was too small) and really loud. We did have a priest but my mom wouldn't let him do the whole thing just the first part & one prayer. I didn't go into the bar but apparently they were celebrating more traditionally in there, trading war stories & recounting tales for those who didn't know him that well personally, plus embarrassing stories of me and my mom. We had him cremated so it was a two part process. The procession from the funeral home went to the crematorium & it was just his family, less than 10 people. The guy from the funeral home said some words & we were to put a flower on the casket before it went into the oven. I had a panic attack at that point so I'm fuzzy on what else happened there. The next day we picked up his ashes from the funeral home & took it to the cemetery where the groundskeeper interred it. There was no ceremony, it was only four of us. And that was it.

Thank you indent...we were given the chance for a viewing before the cremation, but Mr. RK declined. The service was at a funeral home, which the family was rushed through because 'they typically are not open/hold services on holidays'. We drove to the cemetary, but since the ground was frozen, there was no internment, I don't know what or when that is going to happen. Our procession was cut off by some idiot, so we got stuck in the back and didn't get to stand next to immediate family and actually missed part of that. The reception hall was donated to the family which was really nice. It was nice to see some people that I haven't seen for a while.

one of my colleagues came to work today wearing an engagement ring. it must have happened over the weekend.
her and i are flirty and we have fun together. i knew she was seeing somebody but did not think it was serious....this ring was massive. i saw it and my heart sunk.... it actually ruined my day. and thinking about it right now isn't helping...
I can see that being tough for a couple of reasons. Firstly because you liked her, but also because it can be hard to see others taking that next step in their lives if you feel like you're being left behind.
There's an Irish saying though - what's for you won't pass you, so if you go with that then you just have to trust that she wasn't the one meant for you and that things will come together in the end

yeah she is a young hotshot hand surgeon. one of the most fascinating people i have ever met. you know the kind of person who is so smart that any time they open their mouth to say anything, even when joking around, you immediately feel intellectually inferior?? that is the kind of person she is, and it is maddeningly attractive.... i met the guy at a rams game a couple of months ago. seems like a decent guy. kind of a tool, but if he makes her happy then i am happy.

Christmas has me equal parts excited and stressed! It's my very first Christmas now that I've moved to where my bf lives. I'm Jewish, he is not, and it's been fun sharing in each other's traditions. But with all the upcoming Christmas parties and the intense shopping for everyone and preparation for all things Christmas it's a little overwhelming! I'm used to a very low-key Hanukkah with an exchange of a present or two with just my Mom and sister, not a Christmas whirlwind! Lots of cool firsts, though. It was super duper fun decorating the tree (my first time doing that), and I'm excited for him & his family to try latkes for the first time!

Yes, tree decorating is really fun, if done right - with some Christmas music, nice hot drinks, shortbread and cookies for everyone. Sounds like you are proud of your heritage - you'll have fun introducing your bf's family to lots of great Jewish traditions and food.

I'm trying to give myself a mental health day, but I'm concerned about my son's brain - has a severe concussion, not allowed to go to school till ??. Have to deal with police and lawyers and his stupid school and dmv and SSI and go grocery shopping and it's my niece's birthday today - party at 4:30 - watching my NJ Giants right now.
