Personally I dont like the song. But the placement was just horrendous. PJ20 was the most anticipated shows ever. They open with the best opener in the eyes of many, the place is going crazy, and they follow it up with a cover that has barely been played by a band who is not so popular in the US. This was a 20 year celebration of Pearl Jam, and there second song was a song not by them. Very bad decision IMO. I was ecstatic to hear Release for the first time ever and was hoping for the band to burst into Brain of J, Breakerfall, Last Exit, Animal, or any other high intensity song that is theirs.

It's not one of my biggest PJ moments, but nearly being run over by Matt Cameron as he was driving home after the '03 Benaroya Hall show was definitely a fun experience and perfect ending to a nearly perfect PJ show.

The song could have been played later on in the show and still had the same effect. No reason to kill the atmosphere for a bit that early on. It certainly did not do much damage to the show or the weekend as a whole though.

I DO agree with you! I spent a month before PJ20 organising all things such as VISA etc, came there, had an amazing day, met great people from all over the world , had a lot of fun during other shows (especially QotSA, the band I really like). When Metamoprhosis had started I realised "Wow, I really did it", it was huge moment for me. Then I got my first ever Release, the song I love and dreamt of hearing live, especially there...It was a very moving, special moment....I expected Animal/Last Exit/Go to follow , it would be a killer beginning... When I got "Arms Aloft" instead I was really like "WTF?" I couldn't get back to previous feelings for a while...

My special moment? I was lucky enough to participate many shows considered as those the greatest in last years. I can't choose between Black-Come Back-Alive in Berlin '10, Brother there year before, Alone,Release and Crown of Thorns in Amsterdam II and Garden in Prague and Sad in Berlin II... There are too many amazing moments I'm lucky enough to keep deep in my mind just to choose one out of them.

I know MANY people were saying the same thing.

Yep, have to agree here. 'Arms Aloft' isn't a bad song, but brutal placement in that set. If they would have went into one of the songs mentioned or Corduroy (which I'm still shocked they didn't play at all that weekend), that place really would have exploded. Hard to complain about PJ20 because the rest of that weekend was incredible, but that one thing got me.

Best PJ moment for me was finally hearing 'It's OK' night 2 of PJ20. Never thought I would hear it....that was awesome.

I have several...Front Row Center at Irving Plaza in 2006 was unreal. Getting pulled from the crowd with my then eight year old daughter to meet Eddie backstage in Montreal 2008. But the best moment was when Eddie called my daughter to the stage for him to play a song for her!!! My daughter was far too nervous to go alone...so I got to accompany her. We were sitting about five feet from Eddie while he played her "Forever Young". Previous to Eddie dedicating the song to her, the capacity crowd sang "Happy Birthday" to her!!! Unreal moments I will never forget!!!

Black during my first PJ show, Montreal '11. I was sitting side stage, and I looked out at everyone singing along, and realized just how lucky I was to be a part of it all! Brought me to tears. I think it was at that moment that I realized the incredible bond between PJ and their fans, and felt blessed to be one of them! :D

Them playing Black Diamond with Ace Frehley (MSG 2008) was awesome for me because I have loved KISS since I was a kid in the 70's and that's my favorite KISS song.

And Perry Ferrell coming out and singing with them @ ACL Festival in 2009, it was like bringing the 90's back for that one song as Jane's Addition and Pearl Jam are pretty much @ the top of my list of 90's bands that I like.

And then probably the Cleveland show from 2010, just blown away by that show.
